Big news for ACOTAR fans: Sarah J. Maas has just revealed that two new books in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series are on the way – and they’re coming very, very soon. Plus, a third is in the works too.
The author went on Alex Cooper's massively popular Call Her Daddy podcast this week, and in the new episodes she announced the incoming novels. So to save you the time of watching the hour-long podcast, here’s everything you need to know about these highly anticipated releases.
When are the new ACOTAR books coming out?
The next book in the ACOTAR series (Book 6) is set to be released on 27 October 2026. But the excitement doesn’t stop there – Maas is dropping the seventh book just two months later on 12 January 2027. These two books will be released in quick succession, giving fans a lot to look forward to in a short time. Maas explained that the story of Book 6 became so long that she decided to split it into four parts. Part one will be in Book 6, part two and three will be in Book 7. As for part four, it's still being written and will go into Book 8, for which we don't have a release date yet. There are no titles or cover art for any just yet.
Maas also took to Instagram to formalise the announcement, saying: "When the moment came, what I thought would be one book… very quickly became something else. The story just kept expanding, and I couldn’t wait to share a single part of it any longer!"

What’s the big deal with these two books?
Well, for starters, Maas has promised that these books are huge. Part one alone will be around 400 pages, and it’s only the beginning. The entire story will be split into three parts, but instead of waiting years for the next instalment, fans will get all three parts in a very short time. The first part will drop in October, followed by parts two and three in January, so you won’t have to wait too long to get the full story.
There’s a lot of excitement around what these books will reveal, especially regarding the fates of fan-favourite characters like Mor. Maas teased that the truth about Mor’s powers will finally come to light, and there might even be a redemption arc for Tamlin, which has sparked a ton of speculation. Maas made it clear that if she writes more about Tamlin, it’ll be done with respect for readers’ experiences with his character and the abuse storyline tied to him.
What’s next beyond ACOTAR?
While ACOTAR fans are already buzzing with excitement, Maas didn’t stop there. She also shared that she’s working on other projects, including something called Twilight of the Gods. This one is inspired by Norse mythology, and Maas hinted that it might eventually make its way to readers – though she’s keeping details close to her chest for now.
Also, for fans of Throne of Glass, Maas teased that she’s thinking about where to take the character Vaughn, which could mean more from that world as well.
