There are clothes you want, and then there are clothes you live in. For Australian summers, the latter is everything: pieces that move with the heat, slip from day to night, and feel as natural in the city as they do by the coast. With its first-ever Summer Capsule designed exclusively for Australia, SANDRO has delivered exactly that – the collection we’ll be wearing all summer. And in honour of the new collection, RUSSH had the opportunity to speak exclusively with founder and Artistic Director Evelyne Chetrite.

For Chetrite, the project began with a fascination. “Australia has always fascinated me, its light, its relaxed energy, and the effortless elegance of its women,” she shares. “We wanted to create something unique, imagined for their summer and lifestyle”.

In a global fashion landscape where many European houses still resist designing with the southern hemisphere in mind, this feels like a quiet revolution: Parisian savoir-faire tuned to an Australian rhythm.

The capsule leans into fabrics that feel as good as they look – light jacquards, fluid prints, delicate lace trims – engineered for ease. “We focused on fabrics that move easily and feel light on the skin… silhouettes relaxed yet feminine, meant to be worn from the city to the coast without effort”.

That duality – effortless but refined – runs through the capsule. The brand's Parisian spirit remains intact, but there’s a softness and freshness layered over it: pale pinks, clean whites, an airy sense of brightness. As Chetrite describes, “We kept SANDRO’s Parisian spirit… and added the lightness of an Australian summer”.

It’s telling that the capsule debuted at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art. SANDRO has long placed art at its core, and the MCA’s atmosphere of creativity and dialogue was a natural homecoming for the brand’s first Australian conversation. “It’s a space that values creativity, emotion, and dialogue, which aligns perfectly with the spirit of this capsule,” Chetrite reflects. Even the prints gesture toward the blend of worlds at play. Traditionally French in origin, inspired by Toile de Jouy, they’ve been reimagined with ease and lightness – designed for “Australian summers and easy to wear every day”.

Ultimately, this is a collection shaped by women and for women. “It’s always about balance: staying true to SANDRO’s DNA while listening closely to our clients,” says Chetrite. “That dialogue helps us create pieces that feel timeless yet rooted in a particular moment or place”.

As for what’s next, Chetrite insists this capsule is “just the start.” More projects tailored to Australia are already being imagined.

But for now, what’s here feels like enough: a wardrobe that slips seamlessly into our lives, built for our light, our rhythm, our summer. Because some collections you admire from afar. And then there are the ones you’ll be wearing all season.
