Meet Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge – the thinner, lighter cousin of the S25

The newest addition to Samsung's flagship phone lineup is the Galaxy S25 Edge. This phone is thinner and lighter than ever before. It's a revelation for those who feel weighed down by clunky and cumbersome devices. A slim-line and elegant phone that still delivers on function.

Historically, finding an ultra-light device meant compromising on things like camera quality, storage and almost certainly battery life. But the S25 Edge is a sleek, design-led device that still offers the top-level tech experience you'd expect from a flagship phone.

Here's how you can expect the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge to be different from the rest of the S25 series – and what has stayed the same

It's lighter – but with same screen size

At just 163g, Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge feels noticeably lighter than other phones. But that doesn't mean its footprint is smaller. The S25 Edge has a 6.7 inch screen, giving it the same screen size as the S25+, which is the medium-sized phone in the original S25 lineup. But, of course, the S25+ is heavier at 190g.

The screen is a QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It includes Vision Booster and adaptive colour tone for a high-quality viewing experience.

It's thinner – but with roughly the same battery life

The S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra are 7.2, 7.3 and 8.2mm thick respectively. As for the S25 Edge, it's just 5.8mm – a whole 1.4mm thinner than the S25.

In order to reduce the depth, you'd expect a significant downgrade in battery capacity. But the batteries are actually still comparable. The Edge has a 3900mAh battery compared to the 4000mAh of the S25. Yes, the battery capacity is slightly smaller, but some power-efficient upgrades could mean that 3900mAh battery lasts longer than it would have in the past.  You'll get up to 55% charge in 30 minutes.

One fewer lens – but with the same camera quality

The S25 Edge has lost one of the trademark three lenses of Samsung's flagship phone. However, the two lenses that remain on the read of the phone are still the same quality as the rest of the S25 phones.

It has a 200MP main wide camera with Nightography and 2x optical zoom and the 12MP ultra-wide lens with autofocus for macro shots. The front-facing camera is 12MP. You'll also have access to Samsung's AI-enhanced audio-visual editing features like Audio Eraser and Drawing Assist.

It's matched for durability

The S25 Edge has a sturdy titanium frame and has a Gorilla Glass front – specifically,Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2, the latest innovation in durability. It also has a IP68 water and dust resistance rating.

It has the same processor

The S25 Edge has the same high-powered processor as the S25 – the Snapdragon 8. The vapour chamber has been redesigned for the the thinner profile to provide steady cooling for sustained performance.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge comes in three colours: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jetblack, and online-exclusive Titanium Icyblue.

The Edge is available from 30 May at $2,049 for the 12GB + 512GB and $1,849 for the 12GB + 256GB.
