At RUSSH, we’re dedicated to sharing a version of beauty that is personal, authentic and meaningful. Mindful consumption fits into this vision, especially today, given that beauty can be very much obsessed with newness, while we’re simultaneously in the throes of a climate crisis. Sadly, beauty is also one of the largest contributors to waste globally.
With this in mind, we’re proud to be introducing the RUSSH Sustainability Codes and Sustainability Checklist that, together, will both communicate our values and commitment to championing brands doing the work, while providing information that enables our readers to make informed purchasing decisions. This extends from transparency in supply chain, to recycling, waste reduction and refills. You might notice we'll also be sharing a lot more on sustainable beauty in the coming months, from expert interviews to editor favourites.
We hope you find the Codes and Checklist insightful and informative – many small changes can have a profound impact and it's important we make the effort.
RUSSH Sustainability Codes
Do no harm
RUSSH does not and will not support brands who in their full knowledge do active harm to our planet. These Hippocratic words are more relevant now than ever. For our future generations, RUSSH cannot work with brands who have harmful business models or environmentally dangerous practices.
Commitment
RUSSH prioritises working with brands who have a sustainable mindset at their core. But, we understand that change takes time, especially for larger brands. Technology and accessibility still have a way to go before the world can find a true place of sustainability.
However, RUSSH requires that all brands we work with have a considered approach to their products and supply chain – or evidence that they are making effective sustainable changes within a clear time frame.
Transparency
RUSSH will not work with businesses who actively occlude their practices. Transparency is critical for businesses to demonstrate their commitments to our planet and to their customers. Through transparent supply chains and business practices, customers can have trust in the vision and ethics of a brand.
