Creativity, community and cream buns: one day only at the RUSSH Gloss Gallery

In partnership with Kérastase.

Over the weekend, RUSSH finally opened the doors on its long-awaited Gloss Gallery.

The pop up space was part of a broader initiative – the RUSSH Casting Files – produced to discover and nurture the next generation of young creative talent. The project saw us collaborate with the imitable Charlee Fraser, an accomplished model and actress who mentored the Casting Files finalists, directing them on set as part of a RUSSH digital cover shoot. Produced in partnership with Kérastase, the Casting Files were a RUSSH continuation of the Power Talks initiative, focusing on meaningful female mentorship and closing the confidence gap

The final images were displayed in the Gloss Gallery; an incredible way to showcase young creative minds and support each finalist at the early stages of their modelling careers.

On the Friday evening, RUSSH and Fraser hosted a preview dinner with friends, tastemakers and creatives. Held at Verona One in Paddington, the gallery space was bathed in soft pink light with a singular long table. The Sydney evening was cool but dry – reprieve from the torrential rain days prior.

Guests, including Nat Buchanan, Sean Brady, Sarah Bolt, Izi Simundic and Nyaluak Leth, arrived as the sun was setting, sipping on pink martinis before moving on to dinner. The food, wine and conversation flowed well into the evening. Dinner involved a perfectly cooked piece of salmon, warm bread with pink butter (really). Dessert – a delicious tower of zingy gelato with raspberries – gave way to dancing, music courtesy of Mina Tonic (it was a Friday, after all).  Eventually the pace slowed, and everyone slowly made their way home (or at least, onto the next location).

All in all, it was the perfect way to celebrate the space and what it stands for; making space for young creatives to grow and meet their full potential.

Come Saturday morning, the gallery space was transformed once again, opening up to the general public.

From 9 a.m., guests were able to come inside, take in the images, sip on San Pellegrino sparkling water, enjoy a delicious pink cream bun (courtesy of Plated by Savva) and sit down for a Kérastase gloss hair touch-up. There was a photo booth (fun) free product (even more fun), giveaways and plenty of space to stop and hang out for a while.

Close to 1500 guests moved through the space; it was an incredible day of community and connection – exactly how a Saturday should be spent.
