What the ‘RUSSH’ editors are shopping in May

As the air turns crisp, we’ve rounded up the pieces the RUSSH team is currently coveting in May. From archival-inspired knits to the ultimate winter tailoring, as well as beauty favourites and a couple of homewares, here is a guide to what we're shopping this month.

There were a few too many things on my wishlist this month so I had to pull out my faithful wishlist spreadsheet to prioritise them. I’ve been wanting a pair of low-rise suit pants and I’ve narrowed it down to this light grey pair from Sir or this earthy pair from Rowie. I bought a v-neck tank from THE ICONIC, I did want the Flore Flore one but it was sold out in my size and colour. The one I bought is Free People and it’s just as cute.

I ended up buying this chocolatey set from DISSH, although the top is too big and I’m waiting to exchange it. I also have a plain brown belt with a simple buckle on my list and I’m yet to find the right one – but this one looks promising. I’m also absolutely loving the new winter pieces from Ena Pelly, especially this suede jacket. It would look great with this Simone Pérèle piece peeking out from underneath. I’ve also got Emma Lewisham’s oil cleanser and Rationale’s pre-cleanse balm on my list as I just ran out of both and they’re my essential cleansing routine.

Recently I have been trying to broaden my horizons when it comes to colour, and I found this gorgeous Doen pink cardigan that is so sweet. This red and white striped sweater from Zimmermann has also been on my mind since I saw Lana Del Rey wear it at her show in September, and now that it's a bit cooler here, it feels like the right time to purchase. I have also unexpectedly found myself to be really loving these brown heeled tabis. I’ve tried them on and can confirm they are comfortable and adorable. I have also been wanting a pair of diamond drop earrings, and these Class A ones are such a beautiful pair.

But at the top of my list is this Dragon Diffusion x Rixo bag that I think Olivia Rodrigo also has. It is so sweet, works from day to night, and is very timeless. Lastly, one of my favourite pieces to wear during winter is a long sleeved baseball t-shirt, so when I found Lioness’s version, I was very excited.

On a recent stop-in at Somebuddy Loves You in Melbourne, I spotted these MIISTA Abisai Sandals in Burgundy Leather – a new wishlist item for May. I also fell for the softest navy blue two-piece set called the Dissolve Wool Tank and Dissolve Wool Skirt from Permanent Vacation (a favourite Melb-based label). The colder months call for moodier home scents and this Flamingo Estate Roma Heirloom Tomato candle is my current obsession. As is the By Katia Dry Brush set that I tested out at Karla Laidlaw’s store (the bristles are a smidge softer than average which I love, and the matching Body Oil smells divine).

The cooler weather always brings all of my tailored silhouettes to the front of my wardrobe, and there are a couple of spaces I need to fill after moving house.

This Diploma Blazer from Flo & Frankie will be a go-to this season, and as always, brown goes with everything. I have been loving COS' new arrivals and have the Satin Wide-Leg Trousers on my wishlist as well as the Sculpted Long-Sleeve Midi Dress which would be lovely under a trench coat and loafers.

Uniqlo's Jersey Barrel Leg Pants are also a tonal everyday option I'd love to pick up. I also can't wait to get my hands on ASICS' new GEL-CUMULUS 16's via Footlocker.

I've just ordered a couple things from rhode: spotwear and the peptide lip tint– so I'm excited for the mailwoman to knock on my door with those. Lastly, I have LOVE ISABELLE's Birthstone Earrings in my cart for a friend's Mother's Day gift (maybe I should buy myself a pair too?) and I may just have to finally purchase an ŌURA Ring. I have been thinking of one for a while and have decided it will be a worthy investment.

I saw Jess Blanch wearing this Phoebe Philo top at a RUSSH dinner earlier this week, and of course I can't stop thinking about it. I’m obviously in a ‘going out top’ mood because I’m also dying over this feathered ostrich one by The Row (Lisa Eisner wore it to the LACMA opening). My hunt for something similar has turned up this fringed style by Paris Georgia, and this beautiful shape from Christopher Esber. Also this ruffled Dries Van Noten is divine. To cap off the evening edit, I would do anything to own this puffy satin Calvin Klein skirt.

Outside of this, I’m always wanting easy basics I can wear whilst working from home. I’ve been eyeing Eterne separates for months, the trackpants look perfect. Speaking from experience, everyone also needs these cotton Assembly Label pants in their wardrobe. Perfect with an easy white t-shirt and wool knit.

I’m also fresh out of my ride or die Avene Cicalfate. I’ll be adding another to my next Adore Beauty order.

After CHANEL’s Cruise 2026 show, I can’t stop thinking about oceanic motifs. I’ve been considering how to translate the symbolism into my everyday, and jewellery feels the most effortless. This delicate seastar earring from Sarah & Sebastian is subtle, while anything (and everything) from Sophie Gardner acts as bold talismans.

On outerwear, I’m drawn to the structure and ease of this Tibi shirt-jacket, and an Elka Collective bomber. They’d both look great styled back with Lemaire chinos, tinted-lens sunglasses, and a suede tote.

I’ve also been eyeing this mini-dress from Friends with Frank - I’d layer over denim or tailored pants through winter. And finally, I can’t stop thinking about the latest sneaker silhouette from Golden Goose - the burgundy colourway is imprinted on my mind.

In our house, much like books, musical instruments function as art and homewares, and you will have a hard time convincing me otherwise. As such, I am celebrating the arrival of my new Orchid from Telepathic Instruments (Kevin Parker’s brain child). It’s unlike any of our other synths or toys in that it's like an Omnichord from the future, looking and sounding beautiful, and allowing the user to focus on the topline whilst it generates magical chords for you.

Whilst on all things home, I will be doing my seasonal wardrobe cull and would love to update my storage and have fallen in love with Rachel Donath’s Remy Dresser. Given that I will be donating to friends or Vinnies some of my less worn items, it does mean I can make a little bit of space for some fresh things such as the Eugene Silk Velvet Shirt and Pants from Courtney Zheng, this incredible vintage 1997 Comme dress, or perhaps this chocolate maxi dress from St. Agni.

I have quite literally worn my Assembly Label loafers into the ground, so I'm in need of a new pair. The 'umber' colourway is in my cart right now. One of my holy grail pieces is the wonwontutu phone-cord. Being on the go all of the time and especially on set, it comes in handy often.

I have recently acquired the Miu Miu Miutine fragrance and she is quite a delectable scent. I'm about to purchase this ivory top from Salt Murphy. It's great for the colder weather and is an elevated white shirt that would go perfectly with their silas pants. This deer-belt-buckle from Wrangler reminds me of my grandpa’s cabin in the Canadian woods.

And lastly, Dinosaur Designs' homewares are a dream. This bowl will be perfect for desserts, sauces or even just salt. Also the lotus seed-vase is another stunning homewares piece I have my eye on this month.

My May wardrobe leans heavily into a lot of tonal tailoring and oversized accessories. I’ve been looking to Olga Joan as a major reference point lately as I slowly introduce more colour, not to mention their packaging is equally adorable and sustainable. Right now, I’m especially drawn to the Bardot Long Sleeve Top and Flounce Front Skirt in Vino. Meanwhile, Camilla and Marc continues to prove they’ve mastered the art of tailoring. These pants are the kind of staple I know I’ll wear on repeat. I’m also in desperate need of refreshing my winter evening wardrobe and this silk layered halter top from Venroy in coffee is currently sitting firmly at the top of my wishlist, alongside these loafers from Alias Mae.

When it comes to accessories, this oversized leather tote feels like the perfect addition to my work bag rotation. I’m also gravitating towards bold, colourful jewellery at the moment, and this necklace from Reliquia adds the perfect finishing touch layered over winter knits. Lastly I've been loving drawing inspiration from 90s fashion moodboards and these aviators from Lu Goldie have been the perfect addition to my glasses collection.
