What the ‘RUSSH’ editors are shopping in June

I don't know what makes Aussie winter so magical, but the clear air has brought a sense of clarity that has made its way (a long way) down the wonderland rabbit-hole to our carts. It could be the EOFY that encourages mindful spending and a how-could-this-be-a-work-expense mindset, or maybe the change in temperature has shocked us into thinking about necessity over impulse. Either way, the RUSSH team is here to present: what's in our carts and wishlists in June. Enjoy.

While writing up an article about this year's International Booker Prize winner, I spontaneously went to purchase the book, Taiwan Travelogue, from Scribe and am very excited to read it on an upcoming long-haul flight. I also just added the St Agni Suede Apron Top in Khaki to my wardrobe (probably not the most weather-appropriate but she WILL be making as many appearances at afternoon cocktail hours as possible).

I also indulged in a pair of adidas Originals x Song For The Mute Edition Tokyo Sneakers, which have become a new fave on rotation. Beauty-wise, my newest additions (that I’m loving) are the Avene DermAbsolu Reshaping Night Cream and the Maison Louis Marie Bois de Balincourt EDP – specifically the roll-out perfume.

Lots of black, high-shine textures are on my mind this month - particularly these shorts from Loulou De Saison, a mini dress I spotted at VRG GRL's new Bondi store, and a beautifully constructed wrap coat from Lemaire.

A handful of accessories on my wishlist are fuelling dreams of a summer getaway. Olivia Bond’s Vacation collection (for obvious reasons), yellow-tinted aviators from Bottega Veneta, and a made-to-order violet bag from Armenian Designer KÈLYAN.

I’m also about to click purchase on a new pair of ASICS sneakers after spotting someone wearing a similar pair at a cafe. I haven’t stopped thinking about them.

Just a few days ago, my beloved Havaianas broke (RIP) so the first order of business is to repurchase the same pair. Summer, winter… thongs are a year-round kind of shoe, in my opinion. The entire ordeal has also convinced me I need a leather option (for fancier occasions). I can’t fault this pair by Tony Bianco (plus, they’re under $100). Sold.

As part of my never-ending search for activewear, I noticed Splits59 has launched on The Iconic! Day made. These tracksuit pants are in my basket. So is this discounted sweatshirt

I also just bought a second pair of my most-worn ‘casual’ jeans in a lighter wash. If you are tall and need a long inseam (I’m talking 32”) buy Levi’s from the mens section. I got this tip from a girl on TikTok, and it’s been invaluable. I specifically love the lived-in, androgynous shape of the 555 relaxed straight-leg. The more you wear them, the better they get.

Lastly, I am always wishlisting jewellery. I found this brand on Instagram and adore the chunky Jara ring. I would also very much love to be the proud owner of this lapis antique pendant from Love Well Sourced.

Coming into Winter, a lot of my wishlist is self-care products. The dry, cold air has really taken a toll on my scalp (and it probably doesn’t help that I’m showering in boiling water), so I have changed my shampoo to Kevin Murphy's Angel Wash shampoo and Conditioner as it’s Australian, sulfate-free, vegan and cruelty-free, too. And so far, it has done wonders!

I’m such a jeans girl, and realised I have never invested in some Levi’s. These 501 90s’ jeans are definitely on my wish list. And ever since AFW, I have been thinking about ESSE Studios’ new collection, particularly this Varsha Lace Top which is on pre-order. I might need to indulge… I do also need some work-appropriate, comfortable shoes, and these COS loafers are exactly what I'm looking for.

I find in winter that I normally don’t want anything on my lips, but I tried Hourglass’s new Phantom Lip Blur and loved it. I didn’t find it drying or cakey. It felt like my lips but better, so one of those is on my wishlist too – in the colour Enigma. On the topic of makeup, I am still saving up for Fara Homidi’s Eye Compact from MECCA. Oh, and I would love a movie log notebook from A24, because Letterboxd isn’t enough; I have lots of thoughts and feelings on movies.

After paying my car rego, tax, insurance, and so forth, I really should not be spending — But if I were, I would be forking out for these Bottega Veneta knot aviator sunglasses. With the constant downpour that we're seeing in Sydney, it's time to invest in some gumboots. And with EOFY around the corner, I will be keeping an eye on airline sales for a trip around South America. Something about a funky Llama on a rainbow mountain is calling my name.

I'm always inspired by my western roots, so I am in need of a new bolo tie (the one I got from Banff needs replacing).

This & Other Stories brown trench coat is on my wishlist. I have a feeling it would be on high rotation in my wardrobe. Once again, Salt Murphy is on the shopping list, this time it's this top in khaki. Lastly, this JW Anderson x Uniqlo Jumper in green & black was my go-to last winter, so the new colourways are a must.

I’ve had a few excuses to play dress-up and borrow things this month. Things that I have now worn once, I really want to wear again – such as the Camilla and Marc Ciran Asymmetric dress, which is exquisite. Equally exquisite and more colourful, I fell in love with two pieces from Serpent and the Swan. Their encrusted heart ring in rose gold and the snake charmer ring with a party sapphire as her crown — wearing them really does make you feel magical.

I found some vintage velvet Jill Sander trousers in my local Vinnies, so I would love to wear them with the Albus Lumen Soiree Cape. It might be time to introduce multiple capes into my wardrobe for winter. I have been looking for the perfect leather trench for some time and I have found it with the Ppeached Sliz Leather Coat. It’s perfectly proportioned and I would like to wear it all winter with their Kiki Collar in a beautiful red wine-esque berry shade. I am also in the market for an Olivetti Dora Typewriter to change the way in which I write creatively.

I’ll admit I’m not completely prepared for winter this year, so as we move into June there are definitely a few things sitting on my wishlist. I recently bought these jeans from Agolde in blue and I already know I need the black pair too, easily some of the most flattering denim I’ve worn in a long time. These loafers from The Row are also sitting high on my list; I know they’ll be a staple throughout the cooler months and something I’ll wear endlessly.

I’m not going to lie, I struggle a little with winter fashion, but this Penny Lane jacket from Maison Essentiele is high on my wishlist because it feels like such a fun statement piece. The perfect way to elevate any winter outfit.

I’ve also been thinking about buying this Acne scarf after seeing Maggie wearing one in the office this week. This season I’ve been really drawn to checks and textured layering, and this shirt from Proenza Schouler has caught my eye. I’ve also been loving these sunglasses from Poppy Lissiman lately.

My wishlist is a bit of a mishmash of winter staples and some quick Euro summer essentials for my upcoming holiday. I was kindly gifted this skirt from Rowie, and it’s high on rotation. It was the first thing I packed in my suitcase. I’m still looking for a pair of black sandals. I am looking at a Nelson Made and an Aeyde but I also just saw these rubber ones. They’re from Crocs and oddly, I feel like they might be perfect. The design is simple and chic but because they’re rubber, you can wear them to the beach as well as wearing them to dinner.

I need a new makeup bag but it has to be clear so I can take it through the airport. It’s my favourite hack. If your makeup bag is clear, you don’t have to repack everything into one of the plastic ziplocks at customs. I’m also looking at snagging a new basket bag last minute, top picks are this Toteme one and this one from Zulu and Zephyr. As for new winter staples, I have this Ena Pelly suede jacket and now the skirt to match, it’s the cutest cool-weather set. I’ve also got the new Medik8 PDRN serum to try, which I need, this weather has not been kind to my skin. Lastly, I’m kind of obsessed with these Crestwell socks. I love a chunky sock and I think they’ll look so good with loafers.

A pair of Maison Margiela Tabi Ballerinas (finally) made it off my wishlist and into my wardrobe this month. They’re so comfortable and versatile, I don’t know why I didn’t pull the trigger sooner. I was kindly gifted these pinstriped trousers from St Agni, and have already got great wear out of them. They’re wool, too, so great for this cooler weather. Speaking of great pants, I’m (still) eyeing off this corduroy pair from Beare Park. So good.

I want to add more skirts to my wardrobe this winter, and I love the idea of this lace style from SIR’s new drop, styled with a pair of boots. These ones by Camilla and Marc would definitely do the trick. If I was heading somewhere tropical, I would be picking up this halter neck dress by Matteau, along with this skort from Posse. Similarly obsessed with this drape top from Venroy — I just need somewhere warm to wear it.

Last on my list is more of a need than a want. My beloved GHD hair-straightener has finally broken (RIP), so I'm in the market for a new one. Luckily the EOFY sales are on.

My wardrobe is in need of spicing up for winter. My way of doing this will be with colour, texture and shape.

I'll be adding colour via this Minima Esenciales Niles Merino Wool Zip Cardigan, Wynn Hamlyn's Stella Low Rise Jeans and these THE ROW Ponti velvet flats.

Maison Essentiele's Asymmetric Lace Top brings lovely texture, as do these Rollie Nation Ada flats in cowhide/black that I was gifted recently (so chic).

I've also had Harris Tapper on my wishlist for some time, across a handful of pieces. The Orwell Jacket has incredible structure and currently holds position one on my wishlist.

I have this STAY-N Peel Off Lip Liner in my cart, after seeing it on socials for some time. Lip stains (with lip balm on top) are a daily go-to for me, so I have high expectations. Grandiflora is one of my florists, so I was very excited to see their fragrances on Libertine. On my wishlist goes the Queen of the Night Eau de Parfum. Lastly, these Vedette square-frame acetate glasses are chic and we all know Miu Miu makes great eyewear.
