It's August, and the last month of Australian winter is calling for a mix of heavy outerwear, transitional denim, silver accents, and an excited peek toward warmer days ahead. Below, the RUSSH editors share the pieces currently sitting in our carts (and occupying our minds) this month.

I feel like I’m coming out of a winter fog and feeling a little more excited about getting dressed again, so there are a few things on my list this month.

I’ve had my eye on this knitted halter neck from St. Agni – though I’m torn between brown and black. Also loving this blouse from Dôen’s new collection. The ¾ length sleeves are so chic, and I love it styled with baby blue denim. I’m also quite into this coat from Unreal Fur. So cool and cosy.

Speaking of, I struggle with only wearing jeans when it’s cold, so I’ve been trying to venture out. This pleated skirt from small Melbourne brand Caves Collect is perfect – so chic with boots and a knit. Also loving this one from Deiji studios, although admittedly its a little more summery.

I have a few weddings coming up later this year, so I’m starting to think about outfits for those. Staud is always great for summery, colourful dresses, and I love this blue racerback style (which is conveniently on sale), and this strapless pink maxi.

Last but not least, I have a huge thing for pyjamas at the moment. I love this pair from Diary Boy, although shipping to Australia is a little hard to justify, so taking recommendations.

I have been freezing at the moment, so I think it's about time I invest in insulating layers. But before that, of course, I have my mind on less practical things. Like these LOEWE origami pumps, I adore them so much! And I’m going to Japan soon, so I might wait to splurge there… Another pair of shoes I love is Nike’s Moon Shoe, especially in yellow (my favourite colour). I saw how good they looked on Elyssa and realised they’re a need.

I also have my copy of Fruit Fly by Josh Silver – and wow, it’s a must-read. Dark, humorous and relatable (in some aspects). I also have some new basics from Flore Flore I am loving right now – both long and short sleeves. They've really made me realise what a crisp t-shirt and perfect jeans can do for you. I also tried on this P.Johnson Femme blue knit sweater and melted in it. Another wishlist item is Phoebe Philo’s Club Loafer’s… a girl can dream.

I just bought a couple of 100% Merino wool sweaters from Uniqlo, which have been such a God-send for layering this winter (especially in the office). I’m also living in my new Alohas Rivet Loafers in this beautiful ‘Coffee’ tone. Speaking of chocolate brown, the AISLIN mesh tote from Dolce Vita has also hit my mood board of late. As have the Deiji Studios Turn Pant in ‘Off White’ (maybe my EOFY sale investment for the year – check back). I’m also experimenting with scarves a little more. This butter yellow one from COS is a dream.

I'm into silver with deeper tones this month. I've been wearing my silver Heaven Mayhem Baby Knots regularly and always get compliments. A true earring staple. A watch I have in my cart is the BANKS Classic Blanc. And I'm loving the profile of the ASICS Hypersync for an everyday sneaker.

I have a couple of special occasions in August and September that the new ROWIE Annie Silk Midi Dress in Olive would be perfect for. And while I am looking forward to a new season in September, I am still living in coats and outerwear. This VIKTORIA & WOODS Hemingway Wool Coat has been open in a chrome tab for (literally) weeks.

I'm sure everyone's aware that loafers are still a go-to shoe choice for many in 2026, and these Saint Laurent Le Loafer leather penny loafers are fighting with the V&W coat for top position on my wishlist.

Lastly, I have recently cut bangs (!) and have been told by my algorithm that the R+Co BADLANDS Dry Shampoo Paste is fabulous for taming a fringe. And I'm probably the last to try the Rhode Peptide Lip Shape but I'm excited to try it in the shade Twist.

The Buchanan and Gigi tops from Harris Tapper are stunning – the quality and design from the New Zealand house is always beyond. And as always, a Salt Murphy top is on my list.

A few other pieces I've been loving this month include:

• This Won Won Tutu crystal belt – the perfect way to elevate an outfit.
• I love this sporty business casual short from Verner.
• The beaded detail on this St. Agni bag is quite stunning.
• My Canadian roots call me to any type of après-ski chic hat, especially this one from Unreal Fur.
• I love the double belt detail on these Song for the Mute pants. Also, these pants with a detachable scarf detail from Camilla and Marc would be great dressed up or down.
• I'm really loving the combination of colours on this Christopher Esber shirt.
• Really getting into the idea of ballet sneakers with a pair of trousers or pleated shorts.
• You can never have enough button downs and Ralph Lauren is the classic.
• Jean Paul Gaultier is known for his fragrances and the packaging takes it to the next level with his latest being Le Male in Blue which lives up to the rest.

Perhaps I have been ignorant, but I didn’t think one could readily find a chic poncho. However, my desire to wear a blanket and not look insane has led me to this wool twill beauty from St. Agni. I apologise to the ponchos, you were previously plastic and misunderstood. However, this does not mean I am rejecting structure, and the rounded architecture of this Constance blazer from Friends with Frank is up there on my wishlist, especially as the length makes trousers optional.

I’m on a mission to find the right shape of barrel legged jeans, and I think I have found them in these Luna High Rise-ers, I love the shape as it is pronounced enough, but not too theatrical for everyday wear. I have been a fan of Dr Martens since I was about 12 and love that they have introduced a beautiful Penny loafer that very quietly nods to the brand's punk heritage but are still versatile and easily worn with a suit (Westwood or not).

Steering into special occasion wear, I am in love with the Beare Park Elaine Top, I just can’t choose which colour I need more, and have just bought the Wren shirt because of its perfect buttons. The other kind of nightwear I’m coveting this month is some new pyjamas, and I love the ‘Love Me’ set from Simone Perele. Who doesn’t want to sleep in black silk? I’m very keen to nourish my skin with the Barbara Sturm Everything mask, because, after this winter, I feel like my skin does need everything. I’m also very keen to try the Merit Flush Balm in Cool Pink because I’ve heard that it can also do everything.

I’m buying more for necessity than frivolity while I conserve all my real shopping for an upcoming trip to London. However, I have a pair of beloved Carel ballet flats that have been worn within an inch of their life, so it’s time for an urgent refresh. In my dreams I’m buying the Phoebe Philo Club Slipper. In real life, I’m being pulled between some Navy Repetto’s or E Nolan x L’eclisse collab flats. So chic in white! I’ve also been searching for a new market bag. I love this natural weave Bilum bag, or this oversized crochet tote.

While I was at the Ralph Lauren flagship store for work this week, I set my sights on the perfect navy cable knit that I’ve spent years looking for. The button detailing on the collar is a delight. Honestly, I’d take it in grey too. I’ve gone as far as to imagine it into a full winter look, with these Deiji Studio pants, these butter yellow pumps from Bassike, and a fun bag.

Winter has pulled me towards a very muted palette, with comfort a priority (though I’ll happily add a pop of colour to a look with a cobalt sock peeking out beneath a loafer).

I spotted a friend wearing these Bassike jeans recently and was obsessed with the curved shape and panel detailing. I also love this pleated denim pair from COS - they read like a tailored pant, but have the comfort of an everyday jean. I’ve been searching for a corset-like top that is soft yet structured, and this St. Agni style is a strong contender. The back detailing is especially beautiful.

To keep me warm, Venroy’s cashmere cardigan and Pinky & Kamal’s mohair knit are top of my Wishlist. The cinched waist gives the knit an elevated feel perfect for day-to-night dressing. 

Although I’m still tossing up the perfect everyday bag, this Margesherwood style has earned a spot on the shortlist.

With August here already, I can almost taste spring! (Can you tell how excited I am?) I'm definitely not packing away my coats just yet, but I am starting to bring out some lighter layers and colours. Joaen has completely won me over lately. This suede jacket only gets better with age. I'm equally obsessed with the Ila Trouser, which feels like the perfect everyday pant to wear with a white tee now and a tank in a few weeks time. I've also had my eye on a few pieces from Juni. The Amelia Mini Dress is exactly the kind of dress I'd throw on with boots while it's still cold, then swap for sandals once the weather finally warms up. Their Macie Pant in espresso is another piece I know I'd end up reaching for.  Olga Joan never seems to miss. This striped Hoodie feels like the perfect layer while the Viola Bias Skirt is already convincing me to wear skirts again after months of living in denim. I also have a trip coming up which has me which has me eyeing a new July Carry-On. It's been on my wish list for a while now. I've also been hunting for the knee high boot and I think I've finally found them in the Tessa Boots from Alias Mae. To break up all the neutrals in my wardrobe, I'm loving this blue bag from Georgia Mae.

Outside of getting dressed, I've been leaning into comfort. Adidas track pants will always be a wardrobe staple, but Pinky & Kamal's striped tie-up pants feel like the elevated version. And because winter has absolutely wreaked havoc on my skin, I'm back to slathering on the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask every night.

I’m looking for a new pair of boots. Or maybe two? I’m really loving this sleek pair from Alias Mae. But I’m also loving this grungy pair from Ann Demeulemeester. I have been eyeing off these two pieces from Spell – this dress which I think is so timeless and this floaty lace top. But I waited too long and they’re both out of stock in my size. I’ve been trawling the internet for something similar. Here’s hoping they restock.

I ended up buying this Viktoria and Woods cardi. The wool was so soft and thick that I’m sure it will be one of those pieces I keep forever. I have found a small gap in my wardrobe in the form of a very simple pair of small gold earrings and I think these Mejuri square hoops will do the job. Lastly, I was having a curious look around the new Mark Foy online store and the prices are wild. So much so that I might have to treat myself to this iteration of a Chloe Paddington.
