It’s still cold. Still raining. Still technically winter. But we’re pretending... Pretending the sun’s about to show up, that bare legs are viable, and that suede doesn’t mind a little drizzle. This month, we’re drawn to the things that signal a shift, even if it’s only in our heads. A cherry-red wedge. A lace-trimmed short. A tank top that’s wishful thinking – unless you’re brave (or in the tropical north). Call it pre-spring optimism. Here’s what the RUSSH editors are shopping this August.

The LH 003 Busted Shirt is a gorgeous tailored piece I’ve had my eye on for a while now. Louis Vuitton’s new Express MM isn’t even out yet (it’s available for pre-order) but both the Acajou and Hazelnut colours are the perfect, slouchy carry-all. I just added a pair of the brand-new New Balance 204Ls to my wardrobe and they are sheer perfection. I got them in the Mushroom colourway, and they are my new everyday neutral sneaker. (If you recognise the silhouette, it’s because they’re based off of their iconic Miu Miu collab). My new pride and joy is the Palorosa Mercado in Chocolate + Palm (the medium size). She will be surgically attached to my shoulder for the foreseeable future. And while I’m not as sold on the toy bag charms, I’ve found my bag accessory counterpart in the TANCHEN STUDIO Pet-Nat Pet in Roe (a beaded charm and bottle opener).

Jewellery has been on my mind lately, so my wishlist is stacked. Sónter Studio's chunky Golda Bracelet and Francesca Earrings, Saint Valentine's Gold Oslo Round Snake Chain Necklace and the Heirloom Signet from REAL FINE STUDIO to name a few.
I'm very keen for the cold weather to be behind me, but if I'm living in reality, I know some miserable-weather days are still ahead. That said, I've been wanting Maggie Marilyn's Homesick Windbreaker for a while, so the time is now. I'm also in need of some warm, good quality socks (where do they all go?), so a pair from Paire (ha ha) are a must. The Pinot colour is nice.
Later this month will be time to start looking at what my spring wardrobe will consist of. This Lace Tank - White from My Mum Made It would be a cute staple. And these Saint Laurent Cassandra Flat Sandals are to die for.

On my shopping list this month are a variety of small wants and needs, but the main theme is utility. I’m travelling soon to the northern hemisphere, and I want to lean into the practical shoe trend with these Ecco sandals - comfort is my new priority for my footwear when travelling! I always have my eye on a new handbag, it seems like a new one every month, and this month it’s this utilitarian Coach Tabby bag. I really need a big warm coat, I’m currently using the same jacket every day because this Sydney winter is really kicking my butt! I love this Isabel Marant option. And lastly, just because these pants are super cute, I want them.

My wishlist is big this month. I already unleashed myself at the Realisation Par sale last month. As for August, I’ve seen so many incredible pieces that my shopping list just keeps growing. I’m kind of obsessed with the fruit bag charms from Maison De Sabre. I know it’s still the depths of winter but the tomato and cherry ones already have me planning my own Tomato-girl summer. Due to sizing problems, I’ve sold most of my current jeans on Depop and I plan on replacing them with these ones from Rollas. I like the way Rollas fit around the butt, so this is the brand I gravitate to when I want to feel more feminine. I think they’ll be a perfect jean to match with this Ena Pelly brown suede coat I’ve been coveting.
I would love to add one of the cashmere pieces from Bryahne to my wardrobe too. In particular the black skirt, I’ve got a similar one in an eggshell and it's one of my most worn pieces. I also really want one of the Maku tees. One of my friends was wearing the cherry one to Laneway and I think it’s time I got my own. I’m tossing up between the olive one and the sun print one. Finally, I want one of the GHD blowout brushes, particularly one of the pink ones as some of the proceeds go to breast cancer research.

I’m really into curating my jewellery wardrobe right now. I recently reset some stud earrings into a pendant and pinky ring — it was a great investment because the new pieces feel so much more aligned to my personal style. I've also been looking for a signet, a friend pointed me towards Alinka Fine Jewelry and I’ve fallen hard for the Caviar Heart Diamond Ring in white gold. It's chunky and fun but a forever piece. I love the trademarked diamond setting. Perfect for my other pinky, I think…
One of my favourite boutiques in Paddington is RIISE, they curate beautiful pieces and it's such a nice shopping experience. I have my eye on this MKDT Studio suit. Grey is such a great colour, the pieces would work just as well separately. I also am coveting new season pieces from Esse Studios, specifically this sheer dark red organza skirt, or this creamy white mini. It’s perfect.

I went to the Oroton Double Bay store opening last week, and have two items I spotted from the store in my cart. Firstly, my beautiful friend Phoebe Wolfe was wearing their Oroton White lace top and it was stunning. Reminded me of a Doen piece. And next was their Mica Mini bag, in the suede fabric. I’m very into suede, and this bag was just adorable, and reminded me of the Loewe puzzle shape, which I just adore. I also love Camilla and Marc’s Paradox shirt in blue, that buttoned open with a tank under it, is so chic. I’m a big wearer of shirts and tanks underneath. I’ve also heard such great things about Henne’s jeans, and saw they were releasing a pair of dark chocolate suede jeans, which are very me, and I will be purchasing them, once dropped. In the beauty sector, I will also be trying these Wrinkle Schminkle eye micro-needle patches. I've heard really good things, and it’s a step closer to microneedling which I'm a bit nervous about. I will also be topping up my Spf 50+ which is the tinted one from Rationale, the goat.

I bought a really great long sleeve from Flore Flore recently, and it has me dreaming of adding a few new pieces to my collection. I really love this red camisole, and the cut on this black style is also so chic. I also spotted this black jacket by Bassike on TikTok (I am so easily influenced), and it’s been high on my list ever since. I love that it’s a little cinched at the waist, and the sale price doesn’t hurt either. Also in the jacket realm, I love this one by Acne Studios.
I wrote a piece on sheer skirts, which led me to discover these sheer pants by Massimo Dutti. Now that they ship to Australia, it feels like it would be rude not to… And finally, I am manifesting better weather by adding to my summer wishlist. These satin shorts from Reformation, and these wedges from Paris Georgia are definitely at the top.
