Rudy Pankow is officially moving from turmoil of Outer Banks into more emotional territory. His next venture? Taking the lead in Universal’s upcoming adaptation of Reminders of Him, the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover. He joins Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers in the project, with Liza Johnson set to direct.
It's new ground for Pankow, who's best known for more high-energy roles, particularly as JJ in Netflix’s Outer Banks. But who better to embark on this new chapter with than Hoover, whose novels continue to dominate bestseller lists and inspire passionate online followings. It's also not the only of Hoover's books to receive the big screen treatment, following on from the success of It Ends With Us, and the recently-wrapped Verity, which stars Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson. So, what can we expect from Pankow's latest project? All the important details, below.
What is Reminders Of Him about?
The film follows Kenna, a young mother who returns to her hometown after serving five years in prison, hoping to reunite with the daughter she was forced to leave behind. But the town — and the people closest to her past — aren’t necessarily ready to forgive. After coming home she meets a local bar owner, Ledger Ward. The two strike up a relationship but, as with many of Hoover's books, their story isn't straightforward.
Who else is involved?
As mentioned, Pankow joins Monroe and Withers in the film. There's no word yet on which character each actor will play, though it seems likely that Monroe will bring the character of Kenna to life, while Withers will play Ward.
Off camera, the work is set to be directed by Liz. aJohnston, who's best known for her work on The Last Of Us. Hoover is invovled in adapting the book for the screen, working with Lauren Levine on the screenplay.
When will Reminders Of Him premiere?
A release date hasn’t been announced yet, but production is moving forward. For fans of the book — and for those curious to see Pankow evolve on screen — Reminders of Him is one to watch.
