It’s not necessarily news that La Reina Rosalía knows how to punctuate a fit – in fact, she's fluent in stellar wardrobe codes. Her style (and lyrical) evolution is one to be studied since her Sí Tú Que Vales days. If you’re lost, one quick search will catch you up to speed.
Rosalía's sartorial resume is brimming with immaculate taste. A few of her most notable mentions to date include a Dilara Findikoglu head-to-toe ensemble for something light, a thong-baring Balenciaga nearly naked dress, and a custom Balmain Hellenistic-inspired gown at The Met Gala earlier this year for a palette cleanser. She knows when to turn the gas on and off, and her switch-up between epochal indulgence and off-duty mastery is proof of this mastery.
Rosalía’s latest music video, Berghain, is further evidence that the singer knows how to dress well. The video is laced with several iconic archival pieces, and if a singer has ever done justice to relics of the noughties runway, it’s her. Rosalía’s stylist, José Carayol, passed the assignment with flying colours, paying tribute to the archives of Alexander McQueen and Nicolas Ghesquière in particular (two kings of the game in my humble opinion), and solidifying Rosalía's status as fashion royalty in the process.
Let's unpack, and while we're at it, revisit some of her most iconic fashion moments.

The opening look of the video sets the tone, and yes, we may have gasped a little. Picture this: Rosalía sitting at the kitchen table, donning a blush-pink gown from the late Alexander McQueen's Fall 2002 collection. New levels of messy chic have now been unlocked. The aesthetics surrounding the album don't shy away from Catholic iconography, and nor does the visual cadence of the video (although upon second thought, Berghain and Catholicism don't seem to go hand in hand). Following the theme of McQueen, when the camera pans down to Rosalía's feet, a pair of Spring 2003 McQueen sandals grace the screen, adorned with rosary beads from which a large cross dangles. Rosalía then steps outside to run errands, and naturally, chooses a McQueen fit to hit the grocery store in (a staple in every good wardrobe, right?).
Next up, Rosalía pays homage to McQueen's tenure at Givenchy, flaunting a monochromatic grey fringe top from the spring '97 collection, coupled with a low-rise pleated skirt to match. But she's not done just yet. Nicolas Ghesquière's touch then makes an appearance, in the form of a mini dress from Spring 2004 – dainty, playful and ever so elegant. The final scene really bookends the entire video with another warmly welcomed ode to Lee. Rosalía lies in her bed, wearing a button tank top from McQueen's Spring 2003 collection. Quick question: where can one buy PJs of this calibre?

A tribute to Björk, who features in Rosalía's latest track, Berghain. The dress was crafted by Macedonian designer Marjan Pejoski and featured in their 2001 Autumn/Winter collection. Björk then wore it to the Academy Awards in March 2001, before it made a feature on her album, Vespertine.
