Everyone has their own New York. Quentin Jones’ is best experienced on foot, preferably with an iced Americano in hand.
For the artist, filmmaker and founder of House of Quentin Jones, the city is about both movement and escape: yoga downtown, vintage hunting in the Lower East Side, farmers’ market mornings in Fort Greene and treatments worth crossing the bridge for. And when the pace becomes too much? Upstate, naturally.
From the facialist who gets the balance between science and indulgence just right to the woman behind some of New York’s best brows, Jones knows the addresses worth saving. Here, she opens her little black book to RUSSH, sharing the wellness spots she returns to for good food, better coffee, a proper reset and the particular kind of chaos that makes New York impossible to quit.
Best spot for a workout?
I am a yogi, so Sky Ting for downtown or Prema in Brooklyn.
Best spot to unwind and reset?
An escape upstate for the weekend to Inness. Amazing food, tennis, swimming, and mountain hikes.
Best spot for a facial?
Carrie Lindsey (both downtown and in BK). They use the most beautiful products and are the right balance between spoiling and natural, but also very science focused.
And massage?
Make sure you book in at KEISY in the East Village for amazing acupuncture and shiatsu massage. Or the Shibui Spa in The Greenwich Hotel if you want more of a treat (and a swim!).
The best coffee in the city?
Good Thanks in LES, or Thea Bakery in Fort Greene. I like an iced Americano with oat milk.
Best place for a nourishing meal?
For a quick lunch downtown or in the UES, Le Botaniste. Make sure you try the seasonal buddha bowls or soba noodles.
Best spot for a leisurely weekend walk?
Over the Brooklyn Bridge starting in Brooklyn Heights, walking along the waterfront of Pier Parks, and then over the bridge and into the chaos of the city. You see the full yin and yang of N.Y.C. Even better, grab a Citi bike and cycle it, and end your journey in LES for some vintage shopping.
If I need to stock up on beauty or wellness essentials I head to…
Happier Grocery. The most amazing selection of yummy things; a deli for lunch; elixir heaven smoothie and coffee bar; and a basement stacked with beauty products and supplements.
The best farmer’s markets?
Fort Greene (but I am biased). Union Square is the biggest and most stocked downtown.
A hidden gem?
Brows by Diana Augustoni (@dianaaugustoni). She is at Onda Beauty on weekdays. All the best N.Y.C brows are shaped by her.
