Just a touch: Beauty rituals with Diana Avel and Prada

In partnership with Prada Beauty

Makeup is a ritual. It punctuates all the touch points in our day: quiet mornings, getting ready, work, play and the connective moments in between. For Diana Avel, a model and creative mind, that ritual is defined by Prada Touch blush. "I think rituals become meaningful because they create space for us to reconnect with ourselves. My makeup routine is a pause before the pace of the day takes over, where I decide which part of my personality I want to reveal to the world," Avel tells RUSSH.

The new cream colour compact is all about instinct and modern expression. An extension of Prada Beauty's makeup collection, Prada Touch affords creamy, slightly-blurred colour that can be applied all over the face.

For Avel, each of the eight shades represents a different moment in her day – from early morning coffee to the markets, meetings in the city, time spent in transit and getting ready rituals before transitioning to after dark. "There’s something powerful about taking a few minutes to shift your mindset through makeup; I want it to feel like an extension of me, not a mask," Avel shares.

Often, changing our makeup mood can also signify an identity or vibe shift. With a new lip or cheek colour comes a slightly new version of ourself. For Avel, with just a click of her Prada compact, she's able to settle into a different element of her personality, and the mark she leaves on the world and people around her.

Prada Touch is a cream to powder formula with a velvety finish. The pigment is true but buildable, imparting a wash of colour that melts seamlessly into the skin. It's not exclusive to the cheeks, either – Prada Touch can be used on the lips and eyes for a monochromatic makeup look. It comes in eight wearable shades, from soft peach to rich mauve. "The most impressive thing about [Prada Touch] is its longevity," Avel adds. "I can apply it in the morning and still see that fresh flush of colour later in the day, which isn’t something I can say about every blush I’ve tried."

Beyond the formula, the compact doubles as this season's accessory. The perfect shade of Prada pink, the triangle shape is an homage to the original Prada 'Triangle' symbol introduced by founder Mario Prada in 1913. An enduring sign of quality and craftsmanship, it's an instantly recognisable motif that defines the house to this day. The compacts can be stacked, fit neatly into the palm of your hand, and each closes with a satisfyingly loud click (the sound it makes is just as enjoyable as the product itself).

The campaign, starring model and entrepreneur Bella Hadid, shows both its versatility and means as self expression.

Beauty is rarely just about a product – makeup especially. Prada Touch is a gesture; it's a ritual that leaves an imprint. For Diana, it's part of the fabric of her day; a small but meaningful signature that lives beyond her bathroom, and in the world around her.

Prada Touch is available to shop via Sephora, David Jones and Adore Beauty.
