A new Phoebe Bridgers album is en route (according to her Mum)

For years now, Phoebe Bridgers fans have been living in a state of low-grade suspense. Not panic, exactly – more like staring out the window, waiting for headlights to appear at the end of the driveway. And suddenly, earlier this month, someone flicked the porch light on. That someone? Her Mum.

What did her Mum confirm?

In early January, Jamie Bridgers—who posts on Instagram as @nonajames – shared a fleeting story that appeared to allude to “PB3,” (an acronym widely used to indicate Bridgers’ third album). The post came on the heels of a Rolling Stone Instagram Q&A asking followers to “Drop your bold music prediction for 2026,” to which one response read: “Phoebe Bridgers drops an album.” Jamie reposted it. That was all it took to send a ripple through a fandom well versed in reading between the lines. Phoebe herself has said nothing, and neither has her label, Dead Oceans.

What else do we know so far?

The timing helps. It’s been five full years since Punisher arrived in June 2020 and quickly became one of the most defining albums of the pandemic era. Five years is a long time in pop culture, and an especially long time for an artist who released two acclaimed solo albums back-to-back before turning 26. Expectations have been building whether anyone wanted them to or not.

Industry chatter has only added fuel to the fire. Publications like Rolling Stone have already flagged 2026 as a likely return year, while Consequence included a still-unnamed Phoebe Bridgers project on its list of most anticipated albums to come. Even more eyebrow-raising were comments made by Ticketmaster CEO Nathan Hubbard on the Every Single Album podcast, where he matter-of-factly grouped Bridgers alongside Harry Styles as artists expected to release albums in 2026.

There have also been quieter hints. On Amy Poehler’s podcast, Hayley Williams’ vocal coach mentioned working with Bridgers. I mean, what else could that mean?

None of this contradicts Bridgers’ own words. In a Vanity Fair interview last year, she spoke openly about choosing to step back from public life, prioritising rest and distance after years of constant output. Since then, her bandmates in Boygenius have returned to solo projects, while Bridgers herself has remained mostly out of sight.

When will it be released?

This is the grey area. While we know something is on the horizon, it's hard to say at this point exactly when singles or an album will drop. But given that Bridgers is a bit of a music festival staple – and that most of the big ones are slated for summer in Europe and the USA – we're thinking new music might be en route before mid-year. But, we'll keep you posted as we hear official word from Bridgers herself.
