The NYT-Bestseller-to-Netflix-film pipeline is still going strong – and the latest to join the fold is comedian and author Brooke Averick with her debut novel Phoebe Berman's Gonna Lose It. Netflix has officially snapped up the film rights following a competitive bidding war, with some big-name producing and screenwriting names already attached.

When will it be released?
There's no official release date just yet – but we're still a little way off from seeing Phoebe's chaotic dating adventures hit our screens. The adaptation is currently in development, with producer Elizabeth Cantillon (The Nightingale, The Love Hypothesis) attached and a screenplay set to be penned by Book Lovers writer Sarah Heyward.
Who's in the cast?
No cast has been confirmed at this stage. But given the popularity of the novel and Netflix's track record with buzzy book-to-screen adaptations, expect plenty of fan casting in the meantime. With Phoebe at the centre of a romantic comedy packed with friendship, awkward encounters and plenty of emotional growth, we'll be keeping a close eye on who eventually steps into the role.
For now, the only names attached are behind the camera, with Sarah Heyward writing the script and Brooke Averick serving as an executive producer.
What's the plot?
Phoebe Berman's Gonna Lose It follows a young woman whose fear of intimacy has been holding her back for years. Despite having a dream job, a tight-knit group of friends and an impressive collection of romance novels, she can't shake the feeling that she's falling behind when it comes to love. Determined to change that, she creates the ultimate "Guide to Losing My Virginity" checklist – only to find herself unexpectedly juggling three potential love interests at once.
