We're still giggling and kicking our feet at The Invite, but Olivia Wilde isn't wasting any time getting her next film to us. The actress and director has shared plans for a new holiday-themed project, titled Naughty, which is being hailed as "Bridesmaids set at the North Pole". Huge comedy-shaped shoes to fill, we know, but if anyone can do it, it's Wilde.
What is Naughty about?
The plot is probably a little different to what you'd expect from your classic Christmas film. It's about a divorced couple embroiled in a custody battle. According to the official logline, Naughty follows Mallory, "whose only hope of securing custody of her son from her gaslighting trash-bag ex is to find Santa Claus and convince him to testify at her divorce hearing."
Who is involved?
The cast is arguably the most exciting aspect. Jennifer Aniston is on board to lead as Mallory, and playing opposite her is Peter Dinklage, as the elusive Santa Clause.
There's no word yet on whether Wilde will be purely behind the scenes as director, or if she'll be lending her talents on-camera as well, like she's done with The Invite and Don't Worry Darling. Fingers crossed.
We do know that there's also talent behind the scenes, with LuckyChap – Margot Robbie's production company – producing. Wilde and LuckyChap shared a joint post on Instagram announcing the news, simply writing: "you’ll want to be on the NAUGHTY list next year." We can attest, we really do.
When does it come out?
Naughty has actually been in the works since 2023, but took a back seat while Wilde worked on The Invite. Since it's massive success (it currently has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and was the highest-selling film to come out of Sundance Film Festival in 2026), Universal has picked up the pace, and production is soon to get underway. Naughty is slated for release on November 5, 2027. Just in time for the festive season.
