Call it wishful thinking, but something tells us that Olivia Rodrigo could have a third album in the works. It's been 566 days since the singer last blessed us with new material, courtesy of her second album, Guts. But that's not to say she hasn't been busy in the meantime: Rodrigo has kept herself occupied with a world tour, a Netflix concert film and, most recently, a headlining spot at Lollapollooza in Chile. Now, however, it seems we're finally getting whispers of a forthcoming third studio album, and her fans (Livies, as they're affectionately known) are convinced it could be just around the corner. Breaking down the rumours, below.
What is OR3?
While, so far, Rodrigo's first two albums have followed a similar formula, fans think she could be about to break tradition with OR3 — in particular, where colour is concerned. For Sour and Guts, Rodrigo made purple her signature hue, but could she about to make the switch to red? The singer appears to have been favouring the fiery shade on Instagram, opting for a lot more red in her tour wardrobe. When Guts Deluxe was released, fans were quick to notice a lot of red peppered throughout the album artowrk. It all culminated at Lollapollooza this week in Chile, when Rodrigo practically broke the internet in a custom bodysuit by Ludovic de Saint Sernin in, you guessed it, cherry red. As one fan described on Reddit, a change in colour could also signify a new sound for the singer — perhaps something a little more punk rock than we've previously heard?

What will OR3 be called?
And that brings us to the name. The most dominant theory amongst Livies is that Rodrigo's third album will be called Luck. Not only does this follow the singer's penchant for catchy, single-word titles, but she's also given us plenty of reason to believe that Luck will be the title of choice. As one fan pointed out on X, Rodrigo has been sporting a lot of polka dots in her wardrobe recently which, according to Filippino culture, is a symbol of prosperity. She's also been partial to the ladybird emoji when crafting Instagram captions — a well-known symbol of luck — even commemorating her recent birthday by writing, "I feel like the luckiest girl alive!!" The theory really starts to feel factual when you consider that, for the post in question, Rodrigo is wearing a polka dot dress and used the ladybird emoji...

When can we expect Olivia Rodrigo's third album?
Without any confirmation from the singer herself that a third album is en route, all we can do is speculate about a release date. We do know, however, that Rodrigo waited around two years between the release of Sour and Guts. Following this formula, a third album would be on the way sometime in mid-2025.
She's also about to embark on a series of festival tours, including a headlining spot at Glastonbury later this year. As fans have bene quick to point out, Rodrigo could be set to make use of these upcoming shows to debut a new sound. There's also the Grammys to consider. In order to be eligible for any awards in 2026, the album would need to be released by August 30, 2025 at the latest. Here's hoping that counts for something...
