It's been more than two years since Olivia Rodrigo last blessed us with new material, courtesy of her second album, Guts. But now, we've finally received more. The singer officially confirmed her third album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love – and has already dropped the first single from the track list (and is already about to drop her second).
As her fans (Livvies, as they're affectionately known) will know, it's been a long wait with some pretty hefty speculation to get to this point. So here's everything we know about Olivia Rodrigo's new music, below.
The album's full track list has been released
Just three weeks out from the release of you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, Rodrigo shared the full track list for the album on her Instagram, and true to her style the track names certainly hold hidden meaning. Our personal favourite? Maggots for Brains, obviously. Here's the list in full, which has been split into two sides.

What do we know about the second single?
Rodrigo took to socials this week to announced a follow-up single from her third album dropping this Friday 22 May. It's titled The Cure (a reference to one of her favourite bands – and the singer of which, Robert Smith, accompanied her on stage at Glastonbury just last year).
In the caption, Rodrigo gushed: "It’s my favorite song on the album and one of my favourite songs I’ve ever made. Couldn’t be more excited for you guys to hear it." Presaves are available now.

When does the album come out?
The album will officially land on 12 June 2026.
What's the album title?
The album deviates from Rodrigo's typical four-letter-word vibe, and is called you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar in October 2025, Rodrigo said that she still had not landed on one for OR3: "I had the title of Guts and Sour at the beginning of the album-making process, but for this album, I’m kind of still finding it right now."
She continued: "I have a few options that are twirling around in my brain. I have one that I’m feeling good about, and I think that’ll be the title, but I am not 100 per cent positive yet. I’m not writing it in stone quite yet. It has to feel right in your body. I have to sleep on it a few nights before I really decide that that’s the one."
What do we know about the first single?
The first single is titled Drop Dead, landed on 17 April 2026, and was accompanied by a fever-dream like music video filmed at Versaille by longtime collaborator Petra Collins.
Before officially announcing it, Rodrigo sparked plenty of theories by posting videos of pink heart lockets being placed across the world on Instagram which, combined, read the song's title and release date.
What will the new album sound like?
Rodrigo today was on the cover of British Vogue, where she delved into her upcoming third album, saying: "I’ve found a lot of inspiration from being in London,” she says. "I’ve spent so much time here over the course of making this album. It has a lot of songs that are London vibes, about experiences that I’ve had here."
“It was a creative challenge to write from a joyful place,” she says. “When you’re experiencing that you’re connected to someone, or feeling really good, you’re not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!”
The interviewer, Laura Jane Coulson, then got a first-listen of three tracks from her new album, to which Rodrigo quipped: “Gosh, I’m scared. I’m scared to play [it for] you."

Coulson then said "The fan theories were right: these are all love songs, but specifically about the obsession and anxiety of it – or the depression when your lover is gone. They’re “sad love songs”, [Rodrigo will] later write over email. “I realised all my favourite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.”"
There are mentions of the first track on the album being "smooth, trippy soft rock about the spirituality of finding the man of your dreams. Her voice sounds so different – laid-back and mature. The kismet feeling is embodied in the chorus. “The person that the song is about is great,” she says, grinning."
Track two review notes
Coulson then says track two is "Dreamier, hazier, the next traces the withdrawal symptoms of separation. The lyrics remind me of Phantom Thread – a film about poisoning your partner to keep them close to you – but is inspired by Miranda and Steve’s relationship in Sex and the City, and how much Rodrigo relates to her when she tells him: “Whenever something funny happens, I always want to tell you about it.” She absent-mindedly introduces the song by name (“Ah!”) and its chorus laments how grimly diminished you can become when you miss your other half."
Track three review notes
Coulson said, "The final song is about that realisation: love won’t fix you. It’s dancier, the most experimental I’ve ever heard her. The orchestral end catches me off-guard and it’s so beautiful in this setting it almost brings me to tears. It’s my favourite of the three."
What's the deal with the painted mural wall in LA?
Prior to the album's announcement, the official Livies HQ TikTok (run by Olivia Rodrigo's team) posted videos of a giant purple mural wall going up in Los Angeles – complete with a new, previously unseen 'OR' logo. The video was captioned "we are really really scared" which certainly indicated something is imminently about to drop.
Will OR3 have a new signature colour?
So far, we're seeing a lot of pink – which is not what fans were expecting, exactly.
Previously, Livvies had been speculating that red might be OR3's signature shade, with the singer appearing to favour the fiery shade on Instagram and on stage – opting for a lot more red in her tour wardrobe last year. Most recently, Rodrigo did a video where she delved into the items in her bag, and nearly everything was in the colour red, from her favourite hat to her on-the-go notebook.
And when Guts Deluxe was released, fans were quick to notice a lot of red peppered throughout the album artwork. It all culminated at Lollapollooza earlier this year in Chile, when Rodrigo practically broke the internet in a cherry red custom bodysuit by Ludovic de Saint Sernin.
As one fan described on Reddit, a change in colour could also signify a new sound for the singer — perhaps something a little more punk rock than we've previously heard?

Olivia shared plenty of updates from the studio
Rodrigo herself has also shared an image that shows what looks to be the recording studio. Leading a recent Instagram dump is a selfie of Rodrigo wearing headphones and posing next to a microphone. Naturally, one of the most-liked comments beneath the dump reads, "OR3 IS CLOSER THAN WE THINK." We can't help but agree.

Have there been other teasers?
Like any true Tay-daughter, Rodrigo has followed in Swift's footsteps with the Easter-egg drops throughout her most recent festival headlining tour. We think it's very likely that Rodrigo was teasing lyrics from an upcoming third – and still unannounced – album, using the most unexpected medium: her concert encore T-shirts.
Across the European leg of her Guts tour the singer emerged onstage in a rotating lineup of homemade graphic tees, each emblazoned with cryptic phrases. One particularly meta moment came in Manchester, where Rodrigo wore a tee that read, “Did you get that hint?” – practically daring fans to crack the code.
