It's a great day for Olivia Dean fans. The singer has officially revealed that her second album, The Art Of Loving, is on the way.
We'd heard whisperings of new music — late last year, Dean sat down with RUSSH ahead of her Laneway Festival appearances, and shared that she had a new sound in the works. "I'm making new music. I'm working on my second album, which is going to be great, hopefully," she shared. She also promised more shows. "I can't say where, but more shows next year and other places in the world," she said. "And I think I'm just looking forward to the next year of my life. This year's been crazy, and I think next year will be crazier still."

What is The Art Of Loving about?
Specific details about the themes of the album remain under wraps, but the name itself gives us a fairly good idea that Dean's new sound is as much about a new chapter in her music career, as it is in her love life. For a quick refresher, her debut album, Messy, was a mediation on the complexities of self-acceptance and love — and the "messiness" of this exploration.
Since then, she's released "It Isn't Perfect But It Might Be," a track written for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, an uplifting song about the vulnerability of opening oneself up to love again after experiencing loss. Could the single offer a glimpse into the evolving sound of her latest work? Only time will tell.
As for the sound itself, Dean has teased plenty of images of herself in the studio of the last couple of months. In particular, images of the singer working with what looks to be a strings orchestra have got us very excited for what's to come.

What is the track list for The Art Of Loving?
At the moment, details on the track list are scant. We do, however, have the album's lead single, 'Nice To Each Other', which was released over the weekend. In a press release about the new track, Dean said, “'Nice to Each Other' is a song about the push and pull of exploring your independence in dating. It’s about enjoying someone in the present and allowing it to be both light and meaningful. I think this song and video represents a playfulness in me that I’m excited for people to see.”
