The trailer for ‘Nobody Wants This’ season two is worth the hype

If you're even half as invested in Nobody Wants This as we are, this latest news will have you kicking your feet. Netflix has dropped the trailer for season two, and it's got us remembering what made us fall in love with the show in the first place.

It's been a whirlwind lead up to the latest instalment of everyone's new favourite rom-com. Amidst perfectly candid BTS pictures, and news that Leighton Meester — aka, Brody's actual wife — is joining the cast, it's hard to decide exactly what we're most excited for about the upcoming season.

It should really come as no surprise that we're getting another instalment: The first 10 episodes, which star Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, won the hearts of pretty much everyone who watched them thanks to their honest, funny, and heartwarming portrayal of new love. Brody even won the Critic's Choice Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his work.

Of course, season one ended on a pretty intense cliffhanger, with Noah (Brody) and Joanne (Bell) sharing (yet another) dramatic kiss as they prepared to take on some pretty big obstacles standing in the way of them being together. How will season two continue the story of this iconic romance? Keep reading to find out.

When will Nobody Wants This season 2 air?

Season two of Nobody Wants This has a global release date of October 23, 2025. That's about a year after the second season was officially greenlit by the. streamer.

What will season two of Nobody Wants This be about?

Before filming had even started, the show's creator, Erin Foster, has already shared her hopes for season two. ICYMI, Nobody Wants This draws heavily on Foster's own life, and her relationship with now-husband, Simon.

Speaking to Indie Wire before the show was picked up for a second instalment, Foster shared, “The story in season one unfolds really slowly. And so I think if there is a season two I would want to just kind of pick up where we leave off and continue to take it slow, because I don’t want us to get too far ahead of ourselves. I mean, I want my show to be on the air as long as possible!” Foster said.

Obviously, while we know that Erin and Simon are now married, whether Nobody Wants This sticks closely to the source material or goes in a new direction entirely, remains to be seen. We'll certainly be watching to find out.

Adam Brody shared his own predictions for a second season, telling Netflix that he interpreted the end of season one as Noah promising Joanne, “I put you first. Everything else will work itself out, but I’m saying that you are my priority.”

“I think that’s what the show can explore,” he said of season two. “What should he do? What should she do? What version of sacrifice is worth it? What constitutes growth, or what constitutes dimming yourself to be with someone else? It’s a sacrifice, but ideally, you grow together and you’re better for it — you don’t have to [lop] off a limb.”

Who will star in Nobody Wants This season 2?

While an official cast list is yet to be released, we know that star-crossed lovers Kristin Bell, as Joanne, and Adam Brody, as Noah, are on board for season two. On-screen siblings Sasha (Timothy Simons) and Morgan (Justine Lupe) will return to the screen, as well as the frosty Esther (Jackie Tohn).

New to the cast, Leighton Meester is joining the ranks as Abby, who is described as “Joanne’s middle school nemesis who is now an Instagram mommy influencer.” Kind of how we imagine Blair Warldorf would be all these years later?

In addition to Meester as a guest star, season two has also added Miles Fowler to the cast, who will play Lenny, “Noah’s Matzah Ballers teammate who gets set up with Morgan.”

Off-camera, season two has picked up new executive producers and showrunners Jenni Konner (Girls), Bruce Eric Kaplan (Girls, No Good Deed, Six Feet Under), and Nora Silver (Deli Boys, Welcome to Chippendales, Single Drunk Female).

“I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls. …  Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!” Foster told Netflix.
