The New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Aries brings powerful new beginnings

Prepare yourself for a much needed reset – because the March New Moon arrives on Friday 29 and comes with a partial Solar Eclipse. The Moon will fade entirely from its final waning crescent at exactly 9:57pm AEDT.

As for the Solar Eclipse, Europe, the Americas and parts of Asia will be treated to a view of the rarity. For those in Australia or New Zealand, we'll unfortunately miss out on this one.

This particular New Moon will fall in Aries, the Fire sign of passion and action. Here's what you need to know.

What to expect from the New Moon in Aries and Solar Eclipse

All New Moons are considered a point of reset and renewal. This is the point that the previous Moon Cycle and its themes come to a close, and we prepare for our next. It is a moment to take stock, let go of what does not serve you, and move into the next chapter with a clean slate. But here, we'll see this sentiment supercharged.

A Solar Eclipse is believed to amplify the impact of the New Moon, opening up new opportunities. They're know to reveal pathways you didn't even realise were available to you. Think new jobs, new loves or new homes – anything that can offer you a fresh start. Of course, the timing of this Solar Eclipse is particularly auspicious. In time with a Sun and Moon in Aries, and only a few days after the March Equinox – both of which are also considered windows that expose new ventures.

As the first sign of the zodiac, the Sun and Moon in Aries offers a spark of creation, the burst of newness, and a fierce desire for action. March's Equinox equally heralds reset and renewal. So much so it's considered by many as the astrological new year and is one of the most powerful times in the entire calendar to manifest for the future.

For those who have felt stuck, this combination of events offers us a powerful nudge, an almost tangible push towards embracing bold, assertive changes. Even if you aren't entirely ready for a change, expect to have the curtain pulled away and a new reality appear before you. All you need to do is choose to accept this new road ahead.

Each person’s narrative will shift in different ways depending on their natal charts. But, ultimately the themes of Aries—initiative, independence, and courage—will be universal. This is a time to set clear intentions – and not just for the short term. Think clearly about what you need to do to carve out the life you want in the long term. The energy at this time is ripe for planting seeds of intention that will eventually yield new opportunities. You just have to remember to nurture them along the way.

It will be time to leave chapters of your life behind

This is also a moment to consider what needs to be eclipsed in your own life. In particular, look at your relationships. Which ones no longer serve you? Which ones have become toxic? As this is a powerful point of new beginnings, it will also be a time to say goodbye to the things that are holding you back. Remember that Venus will also be retrograding through Pisces at this time. Here, the people that we need to leave behind emerge as teachable moments. Always try to remember what you can learn from heartbreak or betrayal – as hard as it is.

You will also need to be careful to look before you leap. Mercury and Chiron will also be placed in Aries at this time, leaving us with a high concentration of Fire placements. Aries urges action. It is bold, fierce and often favours acting before entirely thinking things through. In any moment of indecisiveness, Aries will be there to give you a fiery shove forward. And while this bravery is commendable, it is important to remember that some things cannot be rushed. This New Moon and Solar Eclipse serves as a bold new celestial invitation, but you still need to consider what will be right for you before accepting. Even in the rush of fiery ambition, grounding is essential.
