Today’s New Moon in Taurus is asking you to slow down

In the early hours of this morning, we welcomed our next New Moon. It reached its least visible point at 5:30am AEST on 28 April 2025.

Here, the Moon will join the Sun in the sign of Taurus, firmly cementing our transition in Taurus season. This offers us an earthy grounding and a reprieve from the intensity of Aries season. It will be a point of reset as we move into the rest of the year. Here's what you need to know.

The Taurus New Moon will be a moment to slow down

The New Moon represents the close of the previous Moon Cycle and the open of a new one. It is the energetic low point of the Moon's 28-day path. As such, this is the moment we shed the sensitivities, the anguish and the chaos of the past four weeks to make way for fresh opportunities.

It's for this reason that the New Moon is considered the best time in the Moon Cycle for manifestations. Here, you can set your clear intentions for the weeks ahead and watch them bloom into fruition as the energy of lunation continues to build. Some like to keep an intentions journal, some simply focus their mind intensely on what they want. However, is best for you, know that this will be the time to engage in planning, intention setting and rejecting what doesn't serve you.

A New Moon in Taurus is a particularly soothing combination. Taurean energy is healing and cosy. This Earth sign has a deep appreciation for the world around it and refuses to rush through transformative moments. It is also the sign that loves luxury – good food, a beautifully decorated home, lazy mornings, luxe shopping and comfort movies. So, when a New Moon falls in the sign of the bull, it is a moment to slow down and indulge in the creature comforts around you.

Pay special attention to finding balance and connection with nature

Embrace a work-life balance, and log off on time. Catch up on your TV shows. Read your comfort books. Entertain at home, and put that extra luxurious touch into your tablescaping. Eat good foods and drink even better wine. And, don't be at all surprised if the urge to indulge in a few choice purchases overcomes you. Taurus is a sign that loves to collect quality pieces.

On a deeper level, a Taurus New Moon is a time for reconnection with reality and our spiritual selves. Taurus encourages us to take a break from living online and surrounding ourselves with screens. Instead it asks you to dip your toes into the crisp autumn ocean, sit quietly amongst the trees and listen to the wind, enjoy the setting sun paint the sky pink and purple – ultimately understanding that there is something bigger out there.

Watch out for the Pluto-Mars T-square

The movements of the Moon affect us on an inner level as the Moon the rules of our emotion and internal selves. Much of the influence of the Taurus New Moon will happen on a very personal level.

But elsewhere in the sky, we see an aggressive Plut0-Mars T-square against the Moon and Sun. The last Pluto-Mars T-square we experienced in October 2024 was a self-destructive one. It's certainly not the easiest aspect to manage as Pluto often influences at a macro level.

This T-square is the combination of four tense aspects. A Mars square Moon is indulgent and impulse and a Mars square Sun is frustrating and conflicting. As for the Pluto squares, Pluto square Moon is destructive and Pluto square Sun bring power struggles. It's a volatile combination.

It is likely this tension and chaos will fly over us at the individual level and instead affect the bigger things around us. After all, Pluto is known as generational force that defines historical events. Protect your peace and be on guard.
