We welcome the next New Moon on the last day of summer. At 11:44am AEDT on 28 February, the Moon will disappear entirely from the sky.
As with all New Moons, here we see our Moon sitting with the Sun in Pisces. While this does help us come down from the high-energy and aggressiveness found during the Leo Full Moon, this moment is not without its own quirks.
What to expect from the New Moon in Pisces
Water sign Pisces is our creator and clairvoyant of the zodiac. It is a sign that is intensely in tune to the patterns and people that surround it. While this makes them conduits for art and creativity, it is also a sign that is easily overwhelmed. Pisces is easily impressionable as they have an immense depth for compassion. Then there is the casual relationship they have with rules and regimens. Pisces prefers to colour outside the lines, as they often view the status quo as an inhibitor for their romanticism and creativity.
It is this energy that flows through our experience of the New Moon. You'll be very much in your feelings and our inner selves experience a deeper sensitivity and almost insecurity through this period. The Moon rules our internal self, our emotions and – some might also say – our inner children. So, its placement affects our inner monologues, and you'll need to be wary of the stories you tell yourself at this time. The world is going through a state of chaos and change, all of which is deeply affecting, especially for those who already have strong Water placements in their top three. The Piscean energy here can open you up to feeling scattered, unsure, and just straight up sad. The wells of compassion you have for others are at risk of running dry and leaving you a shell. You will need to remember to protect your energy.
This will be the perfect moment to start a new project or engage in a new creative pursuit. Pisces loves to create in whatever form, so it is here that you'll find a renewed thirst to get your hands messy. Your outlet might be baking and you decide to try a sourdough starter, or writing and you've always wanted to craft a short story, or even finding the inspiration to start your own small business – whatever it is, there is immense inspiration to be found in this moment. Our heightened intuition at this time will be looking to guide us to where we need to be in life, so if you have the desire to start something new, trust in yourself.
This is especially the case as New Moons are considered to be the best moment of the Moon Cycle to engage in manifestations. As an energetic low and end point, this moment offers a refresh and reset. A time to let go of the themes that dominated the previous Moon Cycle and set your intentions for the next. For this reason, here is where you want to plant any seeds of intention. Be clear in your desires and watch your creative projects flourish.
Water placements will be strong at this time – listen to your gut
Be mindful that along with the Moon and Sun, Neptune and Mercury are also in Pisces during the New Moon. And then there's Mars in Cancer. It's a concentrated combination that – while not inherently bad – can leave us unbalanced and emotional.
As Jupiter squares off against the Moon, it expands our emotional natures, opening the door for the weight of the world to enter. You will been to be extra cautious of emotional burnout.
More than anything, you will need to take heed of your own intuition. This particular combination of placements has the propensity to promote intense perceptiveness. After all, Pisceans are known for their highly intuitive natures. If your gut is telling you something, listen to it. It's as simple as that.
