Nancy Meyers is working on your new favourite comfort film

You're new favourite comfort watch is en route. Nancy Meyers, the brains behind the most iconic 2000s rom-coms, is going back to the drawing board, and putting an end to her decade-long hiatus.

According to reports, Meyers has had the untitled project in the pipeline for some time. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter notes that there were at least two years of on-and-off negotiations, until the film found a home at Warner Bros. Pictures, as well as a star-studded cast.

So, how is the film taking shape? Everything we know about Nancy Meyers' next project, below.

Who is involved?

Naturally, Meyers is on board as both writer and producer. If you've somehow managed to miss her past repertoire (and if you have, do yourself a favour and binge watch them immediately) Meyers is responsible for classic comfort watches like Something's Gotta Give, The Holiday, and Father of the Bride. Her most recent project, however, was The Intern, which hit our screens back in 2015.

As for the cast, it's reported that Kieran Culkin, Penélope Cruz, Jude Law, Emma Mackey and Owen Wilson make up the A-list ensemble.

What is it about?

At this stage, we have next to no details — including a title. We can look to the past for some clues however.

In the early 2020s, Meyers struck up a deal with Netflix, but this was shut down in 2023 over budgeting disagreements. According to reports, Meyers wanted a budget of $150 million, but the streamer stood firm at $130 million.

What we do know, however, is that Meyers was working on a project about a "young writer-director who falls in love with a producer." But their relationship turns sour, both professionally and personally, until they are forced back together on a new project. It was said to be semi-autobiogrpahical, with the title Paris Paramount. Cruz, Wilson, Michael Fassbender, and Scarlett Johansson were rumoured to be starring. Could Meyers be picking up where she left off with this latest project?

When does it come out?

December 25, 2027. In other words, it's looking likely that it could become Meyer's next classic Christmas films.
