The weight of words surrounds her – stacked, leaning, lined up in neat disorder. At The Cross Art + Books in Darlinghurst, Muna Mahamed wears Miu Miu Spring Summer 2025 like she belongs here, slipping between past and present, between what is kept and what is given away. Photographer Rob Tennent captures her in stolen frames, while Hannah Cooper’s styling distills the essence of the season: disheveled refinement, an elegance born not from precision but from the way things fall into place.
Miu Miu SS25 is a lesson in layering, in the language of contrast. There’s the rigour of tailored parkas shrugged over under layers, the boyish slouch of low-slung skirts paired with prim swimsuits, collared cotton blouses peeking beneath heavy cropped raincoats. Mahamed wears them as if they were always hers – layering an oxford shirt, unbuttoned just enough; a calf-high woollen sock, tucked into a crinkled leather loafer. The collection, with its play of texture and exposure, feels like a wardrobe assembled over time, pieces borrowed, repurposed, left on the back of a chair for later.
Mahamed moves through the space as if in conversation with the objects around her while Tennent’s lens lingers on the in-between moments: a glance away, the pause before she turns a page, the exact second a pleat settles back into place. Someone caught in a fleeting instant, entirely in her own world.
