The only thing moving quicker than this year itself might be fashion month. Already we've arrived in Milan, and with the spring summer 2027 shows now underway, the Italian fashion capital is bringing plenty to talk about.
There’s no shortage of big names on the schedule this season, as is typical for Milan. There's Prada, Gucci, Versace, Bottega Veneta, Jil Sander and Ferragamo, but there's also a few creative shifts on the horizon. Glenn Martens is presenting his final collection for Diesel after six years at the house, while Maria Grazia Chiuri is settling in to her new era at Fendi, and Meryll Rogge is continuing her latest chapter at Marni.
Away from the runway, showgoers and models are making a strong case for Milan as the fashion capital of personal style, too. Corded headphones, graphic tees, and baggy denim have so far proven the go-to ensemble for models slipping out of backstage exits. And for showgoers, colour has been hard to miss, with bright reds, yellows and greens early winners. The result is a street style mix that feels playful without losing that distinctly Milanese polish.
And while the shows themselves may be forecasting spring summer 2027, there’s plenty here to borrow for our own wardrobes now. For Australians stepping into spring, that means taking cues from Milan’s colour confidence as we trade heavy winter pieces for lighter layers, open-toe shoes and more skin.
