
The Melbourne Writers Festival (MWF) has unveiled its highly anticipated 2026 program, marking a major milestone as the festival celebrates its 40th anniversary. Running from 7–10 May, the event will bring together more than 150 writers, thinkers and storytellers across Melbourne under the theme Visions & Revisions.
From intimate literary conversations to large-scale events at Melbourne Town Hall, this year’s program promises a dynamic mix of global voices and local talent.

The 2026 program features an impressive roster of international and Australian authors, including several headline names.

When and where is it?
The Melbourne Writers Festival will run from Thursday 7 May to Sunday 10 May 2026, with opening night celebrations kicking off on 6 May. Events will take place across multiple venues throughout the city, spanning talks, performances, workshops and special events.

Tickets for all events go on sale from 7.30pm on Thursday 19 March via the official Melbourne Writers Festival website.
