Max Mara’s Fall Winter 2025 collection, Untamed Heroine, was a celebration of contrasts; restrained elegance collided with passionate romanticism, in a collection that boiled over with both power and emotion. Drawing inspiration from the timeless musings of the Brontë sisters, the show explored the complex duality of the modern woman—self-assured, but perhaps always yearning for the kinds of passionate romances in the novels of Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. As for the models cast to bring this cinematic story to life? The runway was brimming with Australian faces, including Angelina Kendall, Ella Mccutcheon, Bibi Breslin, and Stella Hanan.

The location...
The runway itself set the stage for a story of many layers. Clean and stripped back, the atmosphere was charged with a sense of restrained grandeur. There was a tangible synergy between the clothing and the environment—the space, much like the pieces that soon occupied it, was punctuated by a sense of romantic nostalgia, while also being unmistakably modern
The clothes...
The collection was an eloquent dialogue between tradition and reinvention. As always, Max Mara’s signature tailoring took centre stage, but with several updated twists. The redingote, for example, a standout piece, was given an edge with leather and shearling details, as if its wearer might actually be planning to venture out into the wild. As the show notes put it, "Though she’s more likely to be stalking the corridors of power in a smartly tailored suit than wandering through the heather and gorse in a nightgown, her new romantic mood calls for a new romantic style." The juxtaposition of soft pleats with bold, military-inspired greatcoats and frock coats conveyed this duality, as did the addition of a new seasonal hue: Cascia—a colour unique to Max Mara, which echoed the stones and sky of Yorkshire, the Brönte's home.
In classic Max Mara fashion, the collection had close eye on outerwear. From utilitarian parkas with bellow pockets to generously enveloping clutch coats and capes, each piece spoke to its wearer's graceful duality. Tweeds in autumnal shades of berry red and moss green formed the colour palette for these endeavours, while intricate knitted sweaters echoed Victorian bodices offered a modern interpretation of classic femininity.
