Margaret Qualley will star in new Ethan Coen film alongside Australian Geraldine Viswanathan

Dreamgirl Margaret Qualley has been cast in Ethan Coen's first solo directorial feature. The film – its title still to be announced – will also star Australian actor and Janet King star Geraldine Viswanathan and is being made in conjunction with Working Title and Focus Features.

What is the plot of the upcoming Ethan Coen film with Margaret Qualley?

As we write, the plot and character details are yet to be announced, however we do know Coen co-wrote the film with his wife, Tricia Cooke. Having spent his career thus far co-directing and writing with his brother Joel, Coen will this time lead the production alongside Robert Graf, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.

For Qualley, the role is a continuation of a stellar year in her career, beginning with her acclaimed part in the Netflix series, Maid, earning her an Emmy nomination and saw her share the screen with mother, Andie McDowell. In film, we’ve seen Qualley feature in Stars at Noon which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and we will next month see another film premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, Sanctuary, in which the actor is cast.

For those unacquainted with Viswanathan’s work, the Australian actor’s break in the industry came from roles in Blockers and Bad Education – alongside Hugh Jackman and Allison Janey – and we have most recently seen her star in The Broken Hearts Gallery, with an upcoming feature releasing from Apple, The Beanie Bubble.

The Coen brothers are best known for works including Fargo, No Country for Old Men, Raising Arizona and True Grit, resulting in six Academy Award wins for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.

When is the film releasing?
