Lisa is starring in a ‘Notting Hill’-style Netflix rom-com

Lisa is officially leaning deeper into her Hollywood era – this time, as a leading lady.

The BLACKPINK superstar and fashion icon is set to headline a new Netflix romantic comedy according to Deadline, reuniting with The White Lotus executive producer David Bernad after making her acting debut in the show’s third season. The script comes from rom-com favourite Katie Silberman, whose credits include Netflix hit Set It Up and the critically adored Booksmart. While plot details are still being kept under wraps, the project is already generating buzz thanks to its star-powered creative team and a charming origin story.

According to sources close to the film, the idea took shape on the set of The White Lotus, where Lisa and Bernad bonded over their shared love for old-school romantic comedies – especially Notting Hill. Those casual conversations soon turned into brainstorming sessions, and before long, they had the foundation for a new movie. Silberman was brought in shortly after to write the screenplay, adding her signature witty, modern touch to the mix.

Bernad will produce the film through his Middle Child Productions banner, alongside Silberman, who has an exclusive creative deal with Netflix. Alice Kang and Lisa are also on board as executive producers, giving the singer-turned-actor a hand in shaping the project behind the scenes as well.

The timing couldn’t be better for Lisa. After conquering the global music scene as part of BLACKPINK, she launched her solo career in 2021 with LALISA, followed by her debut album Alter Ego last year, which cracked the Billboard 200’s top ten and topped the Top Album Sales chart. She also made her Coachella debut, proving she can command massive stages just as easily on her own.

Acting has quickly become another major focus. Following her turn as Mook in The White Lotus Season 3, Lisa is currently filming TYGO, a movie tied to Netflix’s Extraction universe – her biggest film role to date.

Silberman continues to be one of Hollywood’s most in-demand comedy writers, while Bernad is juggling an impressive slate, including the upcoming France-set fourth season of The White Lotus, a new season of Jury Duty, and a Netflix comedy starring John Cena and Eric André.

When will it be released?

At this point, the film is in very early stages of casting and production, so we're unlikely to see it on screens this year.
