A Leo Woodall and Sebastian Stan romance is en route with ‘Burning Rainbow Farm’

Leo Woodall and Sebastian Stan

It's not a pairing we expected, but now that it's here, we're obsessed. Leo Woodall and Sebastian Stan are set to star opposite each other in Justin Kurzel's latest project, Burning Rainbow Farm. Even better, the film will see the duo take on the parts of real-life couple Tom Crosslin and Rollie Rohm, two gay cannabis activists who met in the early 1990s and set up the peaceful, pot-friendly utopia Rainbow Farm in Michigan. Curious? Keep reading for everything we know about Burning Rainbow Farm.

Who is involved?

Besides lead actors Woodall and Stan, no other actors are yet to be confirmed for the film. Behind the scenes, however, we know that the film is directed by Australian Justin Kurzel — who also recently brought us The Narrow Road to The Deep North, starring Jacob Elordi.

The screenplay for the film was written by Tommy Murphy, and is based on Dean Kuipers’ 2006 book Burning Rainbow Farm: How a Stoner Utopia Went Up in Smoke.

What is Burning Rainbow Farm about?

The film draws its plot from real-life events. Specifically, Tom and Rollie met in the early 90s, and established the peaceful, cannabis farm, Rainbow Farm in Michigan, a site that quickly grew to prominence. But by 2001, the couple had run into conflict with local authorities, leading to having their young son taken away from them, and a police stand off described by Variety as "one of the largest and most dramatic sieges America has ever seen."

Kurzel explained the film in his own words via a statement, saying it's "a love story about two outliers who raise their middle finger to hate and declare ‘This is who we are, and we dare you to take it from us.' I’m excited to create this loveable and courageous couple with Sebastian and Leo, their union will be one to remember," he said.

When does Burning Rainbow Farm come out?

There's no official release date yet, but with filming still yet to begin, we'd guess it won't hit screens until at least 2026. We'll keep you updated as we know more.
