Our next television obsession is brewing. Emily Ratajkowski and Lena Dunham are teaming up for a new series at Apple TV+, alongside best-selling author Stephanie Danler. According to reports, the so-far untitled project is currently in early development and will explore themes of female identity and modern motherhood, with Ratajkowski also set to star. It marks her screenwriting debut, and sees her reunited with Dunham following their recent (impeccably, if we do say so ourselves) work together on Netflix’s Too Much.

Here's what you need to know.

Who’s involved?

The series is co-written and executive produced by Ratajkowski and Danler, with Dunham attached as executive producer under her production banner Good Thing Going. A24 is also involved in production, so we can expect the story to be fittingly niche and innovative as a result.

Though originally a model, Ratakjowski has her on-screen breakout with a role in Gone Girl, and this year starred in Dunham's Too Much. She's also been increasingly vocal — and creative — in the space where feminism, image and power intersect, in particular with her her NYT-bestselling essay collection My Body.

Danler rose to prominence with her debut novel Sweetbitter, which was later adapted into a series. She then wrote her memoir, Stray, which dealt with love, addiction and familial trauma. And Dunham, who changed the cultural conversation around millennial womanhood with her series Girls, brings a decade of experience writing, directing and producing female-led stories.

What’s it about?

While specific plot details are still under wraps, it’s expected to delve into the complexities of what it means to be a woman — and a mother — today. With this creative team, the tone is likely to be intimate and emotionally layered, but also extremely funny.

Is there a release date?

There’s no official release date yet, as the series is still in early development. But with Apple TV+ and A24 behind it, this one is already firmly on our radar.
