It's a natural next step for the singer, whose rise has been anything but typical. She’s amassed 4.25 billion global streams, built a social media following of 24 million, and sold out iconic venues like the Hollywood Bowl, Radio City Music Hall, and Royal Albert Hall. She’s collaborated with artists across the spectrum — from Beabadoobee to Norah Jones — and performed alongside orchestras including the LA Philharmonic and the China Philharmonic Orchestra.
So, what comes next? All the important details on A Matter Of Time, below.
What is A Matter Of Time About?
The album follows the breakout success of 2023’s Bewitched — a Gold-certified, Grammy-winning record that became the biggest jazz debut in Spotify history. But while Bewitched romanticised love through a dreamy, vintage jazz lens, A Matter Of Time takes a different angle. It’s less about the fantasy, more about the fallout — a sharper, more candid reflection on love, timing, and everything that comes after.
The first single from the forthcoming album, Tough Luck, sets the tone: According to Laufey, it's “a fiery song about love gone wrong." She said in a press release, “I wanted to reveal an angrier side of myself—a side that this unfortunate relationship brought out in me.”
Is there a tracklist?
The full tracklist is still under wraps, but if A Matter Of Time is anything like what she’s hinted at, we can expect a record that’s more layered, more personal, moving between orchestral arrangements and bedroom-level lyrical honesty, with the ease we know and love about Laufey.
When does A Matter Of Time come out?
A Matter Of Time arrives August 22. You can pre-order and pre-save it here.
