Lana Del Rey has announced a new single (and a tentative album release date)

Lana Del Rey has announced a new single, White Feather-Hawk Tail Deer Hunter, while continuing the slow, publicly negotiated rollout of a tenth studio album that has already gone through multiple titles, timelines, and aesthetic rewrites. Here's what we know so far...

When is the new single dropping?

It’s due 17 February 2026.

The new track was announced in an Instagram Story shared by the singer on 7 February, where she gave followers an update on the progress of her upcoming 10th album Stove.

“I just wanted to make a little message and let you know that my new single and my favourite song – this is the one I’ve been waiting for – White Feather-Hawk Tail Deer Hunter is coming out on the 17th,” Del Rey's Instagram story said.

What do we know about the song so far?

The track was co-written with Del Rey’s husband – yes, alligator tour boat operator and Louisiana native Jeremy Dufrene – along with members of her family. The production again pairs her with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, whom she credited with finally locating the “magical chord” she had been missing.

She’s already calling the song her favourite, and the one she had been waiting to release, Del Rey framed the single not as filler between album cycles but as a statement of intent — the track that clarifies what this long-in-development project is supposed to be.

What will it sound like?

Del Rey's suggested the new record will be lighter and more melodic than Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, while retaining the country-adjacent textures and American Songbook references she has been circling in recent years – if that's anything to go by for a sonic prediction.

For a real taste of the record – last April, Del Rey released the first singles from the upcoming album – Henry, Come On and Bluebird – so you can have a listen to those for more of a sonic barometer. But White Feather-Hawk Tail Deer Hunter will be the first new music since then.

When will the full album drop?

According to Del Rey, the album should drop around May or June 2026.

While announcing her new single on Instagram, she also addressed the album roll out directly: "I know, you’re asking about the record. But honestly, soon, because vinyl takes three months, so three months plus two weeks. I mean, it could be give or take a bit less than that.”

Why did the album name change?

The album is now titled Stove, following years of teasing and rescheduling.

Before becoming Stove, the project carried the title The Right Person Will Stay – itself a revision of an earlier concept called Lasso. Each rename arrived with new songs and extended deadlines, including a late decision to add six more tracks.
