PSA to the girls and the gays: Kylie is headlining the AFL Grand Final

It's a great day for the footy-loving girls and gays of Australia – pop icon Kylie Minogue has been announced as the pre-game entertainment for this year’s AFL Grand Final. Yes, that Kylie – fresh from her viral CHANEL campaign starring Margot Robbie that remade her iconic 2002 Come Into My World music video (one of just many iconic music vids). She's Australian pop royalty, a fashion muse to boot, and it's about time that we treated her as such on one of the biggest televised events in the country.

Her appointment as this year's official entertainer also marks the first time in four years that an Australian artist has headlined the pre-game show. Not that the past acts weren’t impressive – Robbie Williams, KISS, Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg all brought their flair – but none of them can claim to be both a global superstar and someone your Mum insists on calling “our Kylie.”

Kylie herself has said she’s thrilled to be coming home to Melbourne for what is widely considered the biggest day in the Aussie sporting calendar. With around 100,000 people expected to pack the ‘G this year, the atmosphere is set to be absolutely electric.

When can I watch it?

The big day is set for Saturday 26 September 2026 at the legendary Melbourne Cricket Ground. Kick off is slated for 2:30pm AEST, and if last year's pre-game show is anything to go by, Kylie should be on your telly at 1:43pm AEST sharp. The AFL Grand Final is streamed live and free within Australia on 7plus. (Outside Australia, the match can be streamed via the official Watch AFL service.)

When and where can I get tickets?

If this were any other artist, we’d probably tell you not to bother trying to score one of the notoriously scarce AFL Grand Final tickets. But when it comes to Queen Ky, never underestimate the determination of the girls and the gays to make it to the front of the queue.

AFL Grand Final tickets are primarily secured through club memberships (competing teams), AFL member priority periods, and the official Ticketek site. For guaranteed seating, authorised packages including premium hospitality are available via AFL Event Office, The Golden Ticket, and Premium Seats. Remaining tickets may go on sale to the general public close to the date.
