Is there anything better than two of your favourite actors unexpectedly pairing up on screen? If you ask us, not really. Jeff Nichols is returning to the big screen — and he's bringing Margaret Qualley and Drew Starkey along with him. The film, titled, King Snake, is set in the haunted heart of the American South, and is billed as a Southern gothic tale steeped in darkness. Our interest is piqued, to say the least.

Keep reading for all the important details on King Snake.

Who’s involved?

Nichols, best known for his richly atmospheric work on The Bikeriders, Mud, and Take Shelter, a writes and directs King Snake, reuniting with long-time collaborators Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Sarah Green under their Tri-State Pictures banner. The trio will produce alongside Range Media Partners, with FilmNation Entertainment backing the project.

Fronting the story are The Substance star and CHANEL ambassador Margaret Qualley, and Outer Banks-star-turned-cinematic-fave Drew Starkey. The leading pair are also joined by Michael Shannon — a frequent Nichols muse.

What it’s about?

Set in rural Arkansas, King Snake follows a young couple (Qualley and Starkey) who inherit a family farm only to discover that it's history is riddled with both physical and metaphysical demons. As they confront the haunting legacy that comes with their inheritance, forces of good and evil blur.

So, when is it coming out?

King Snake is still in early stages of production, but FilmNation has lalready aunched international sales at the American Film Market, hinting that filming will begin soon. An official release date has yet to be announced — but we'll keep you updated when that happens. In the meantime, might we suggest delving into hits like Outer Banks or Maid?
