After 11 years, Jonathan Anderson has officially departed from LOEWE

Jonathan Anderson has announced his departure from Loewe after 11 years as creative director, marking the end of a transformative era for the brand.

Since joining Loewe in 2013, Anderson redefined its identity, blending craftsmanship with conceptual design. Under his leadership, the brand became known for its surrealist influences, innovative silhouettes, and artistic collaborations. His tenure saw the rise of iconic pieces like the Puzzle bag and experimental designs that challenged conventional fashion norms.

Speculation is already mounting about Anderson’s next move, though no official announcements have been made. As for Loewe, the brand now faces a new chapter, building upon the foundation Anderson established over the past decade.

Anderson took to Instagram this afternoon to announce his exit, writing "While my chapter draws to a close, LOEWE’s story will continue for many years to come, and I will look on with pride, watching it continue to grow, the amazing Spanish brand I once called Home."

LOEWE themselves also sent out an official notice, with the House's CEO, Pascale Lepoivre stating: "‘I am incredibly grateful to Jonathan Anderson for the eleven years of unmatched creativity, passion and dedication that he has given to LOEWE."

"With him as its creative director, the House has risen to new heights with international recognition. The Puzzle bag, celebrating its 10th anniversary, has become a true icon, and the brand codes that he has created, rooted in craft, will live on as his legacy."

Anderson’s exit leaves behind more than just a body of work, it leaves behind a mindset, a way of looking at fashion as an ever-evolving dialogue between art, culture, and the self. Under his leadership, Loewe became more than a luxury house; it became a living, breathing conversation.

And now, it ends. A chapter closed, a vision complete. Jonathan Anderson leaves behind not just a legacy but an entire language. One stitched into the Puzzle bag’s geometric folds, moulded into the surrealist balloon heels, and through the drape of a metal breastplate dress. Loewe under his hand was not just fashion; it was a world unto itself where pixelated coats defied the eye, anthurium flowers clung to torsos like second skin, and the humble tank top was reimagined as the ultimate luxury piece. He turned the everyday into the extraordinary, made craft and chaos collide in perfect harmony.

What comes next will be beautiful.
