Earlier this month in New York, Miu Miu unveiled its latest immersive concept: Tales & Tellers. A celebration of performance, identity, and the blur between art and life, the event drew in a cast of creatives, artists and industry insiders – among them model, DJ and entrepreneur Jessie Andrews, who found herself swept into the fashion house’s dreamlike universe.

“A Miu Miu event is always one for the books,” Andrews shared with RUSSH. “They’re well thought out, interesting and interactive.” This latest iteration was no exception. The space – a moody, darkened gallery – offered more than a traditional showcase. It was a living installation. “I walked into a darkly lit space and was immediately immersed in physical and digital works of art carefully curated by the brand."

Miu Miu, never one to adhere to the expected, cast artists and models into the mix – both onscreen and IRL. “There were videos with artists and models displayed in them, before I knew it they came to life around me, running around the space, weaving through the guests, dancing, playing. It was fun and different,” Andrews recalled.

Performance was woven seamlessly into the setting. The spaces between character and crowd intentionally blurred. “The line between what was reality and acting was thin,” she explained. “They wouldn’t look you in the eye but they knew where you were.” The result? A heightened sense of theatre that turned every attendee into an unintentional actor – or observer – within the mise-en-scène.

In one moment of accidental participation, Andrews found herself mistaken for a performer. “I crouched down to listen to an audio installation and people immediately started taking pictures of me, thinking I was part of it,” she laughed. “It felt like you could be anyone there and live in this world they’ve curated and I loved it!”
