Fresh from the Oscar-winning success of A Real Pain and Jesse Eisenberg is showing no signs of slowing down. His next venture? A musical comedy with A24, no less. Eisenberg's still untitled film has reportedly begun production, and has some seriously big names attached to star. Who is cast in Jesse Eisenberg's next project?
The cast has continued growing in recent weeks, adding Halle Bailey, Havana Rose Lui, and Bernadette Peters to its roster, alongside Julianne Moore, Paul Giamatti, Eldar Isgandarov, Bonnie Milligan, Colton Ryan, Lilli Cooper, Maulik Pancholy. and Eisenberg himself.
Of course, Bailey has already proven herself an incredible singer, not only as part of a musical duo with her sister Chloe, but also as the lead in Disney's live action remake of The Little Mermaid. Peters is also an accomplished musical theatre performer, while Lui is a trained dancer. Milligan has also been recognised for her work on the stage, having been awarded the Tony in 2023 for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, thanks to her performance as Debra in Kimberly Akimbo. It's a cast brimming with talent, to say the least.
Who else is involved?
Behind the scenes, Eisenberg is serving as director, but also wrote the original music and lyrics for the film’s musical portion. Steven Gizicki (best known for his work on A Complete Unknown and La La Land) is the music supervisor, while Bill Sherman (who gave us In the Heights) is the executive music producer.
Continuing their collaboration from A Real Pain, Emma Stone's production companyFruit Tree is once again set to produce, alongside A24.
What is the film about?
Details are scarce here, but we know that Moore will play a “shy woman who is unexpectedly cast in a community theatre musical production, going to extremes as she loses herself in the role." If Eisenberg's previous work is anything to go by, it will be hilarious and heartwarming all at once.
