This New Moon will fall in the Earth sign of Capricorn, making it an excellent time to manifest for the future – especially surrounding your career. Here's what you need to know ahead of time.

What is the significance of a New Moon?

Our 29-day Moon Cycle has energetic ebbs and flows. The Full Moon is considered the energetic peak, where as the New Moon is the trough. It is also considered to be the end of the current Moon Cycle and the point a new one opens.

This is significant because the Moon is the ruler of our inner selves. While the Sun dictates who we project to the world, the Moon influences our emotional self – the person we are when we're alone. The Full Moon imbibes our emotional self with intensity, where as the New Moon helps us come back down, depletes us of energy and allows us to enter the next Moon Cycle anew. Almost like an emotional cleanse and recalibration.

As a result, New Moons are considered the best moment during the Moon Cycle to engage in manifestation, plant seeds of intention and feel refreshed for the new period ahead.

What to expect from January's New Moon in Capricorn?

Capricorn Moons are always excellent times for goal setting and as this one falls right at the beginning of the year, there is a special kind of synchronicity to be found in this moment. New Moons are new beginnings and there is no energy better to capitalise on a new opportunity quite like Capricorn energy.

This New Moon gently probes us to think about what's next. Not in a forceful or anxious way, but softly, asking us to consider what we truly want from this year and from ourselves.
