We're feeling a bit like Pepe Silvia in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia – specifically, that scene where he's going crazy trying to break something down on an investigation wall. Because wow, what an ending to House of the Dragon season three.

In light of trying to find our bearings and come to terms with what we're left with for at least another two years, we're predicting everything that will happen in the next – and final – season of the show. Yes, we are well aware the series was adapted from a book, so some things are a bit predictable. But if we learnt anything from the last two episodes, it's that some things go off-book. So, if you aren't up to date, take this as your warning that there are spoilers ahead.

In short, we've got delicious-one-eyed-mummy-issues Aemond teaming up with his half-burnt brother to take down Rhaenyra. Because, as Christopher Nolan once wrote so well in The Dark Knight's script, "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain," and that is exactly what has happened with Rhaenyra. We were in bits after that episode – mourning, rattled with anger (for multiple reasons) and, most importantly, curious about how they will wrap all of this up in one last season with so much to go.

So, without man-splaining everything that just happened, we're looking ahead, grasping at theories and what's written in the books, all in the hope of predicting what goodness we might get next season.

Mysaria will turn in The Shepherd

The Shepherd is properly introduced right at the end of Fire and Blood (the book that the series is based on). We know the show changes a few things, and based on what was laid out in the last episode of season three when Mysaria was dismissed by Rhaenyra, we think this could lead to her turning against her. Being spiteful, and being a lady of whispers in the past, we think this means she will become The Shepherd and preach against Rhaenyra.

Dragonpit gets destroyed

Unsure when this might happened, but with the rise of The Shepherd and Rhaenyra going a bit mad, the smaller townspeople in Kings Landing might riot agains the Targaryens. Ryan Condal, the show-runner, mentioned we will still see new dragons appear too. This could be a hint to the Dragonpit getting destroyed, leading to five dragons dying, usually the younger ones where they are kept. This could include Dreamfyre (Helaena's dragon) and Syrax (Joffrey's dragon), which would ultimately also lead to Rhaenyra's heir to the thrown, Joffrey getting killed in the chaos.

Battle of The God's Eye will be the first episode

This is where we left Aegon and Aemond. While they most definitely despise each other, their hate for Rhaenyra and desire to reclaim the throne is stronger. This alliance against Rhaenyra is what leads to the battle of The God's Eye. This is where we would see the death of Prince Aemond and Prince Daimon, in an aerial battle between dragons that ultimately leads to Daimon stabbing Aemond in the eye killing him, and Daimon dying from his injuries.

The fall of Dragonstone will happen

This will also happen at the start of season four. We'll see Aegon take over Dragonstone with his now somewhat alive dragon Sunfyre. Securing it from the inside, he takes it from Rhaenyra. In defiance and in order to protect the island we see Baela ride on over with Moondancer, leading to the Dance of the Dragons where both Sunfyre and Moondance come crashing down. Baela gets captured and becomes Aegon's prisoner...

Yes, Tumbleton will fall again

We're nervous for the next season with the amount of deaths we will see. The second battle of Tumbleton will definitely be a big episode in the next series. Adam the Hull leads the Riverman army at nighttime to attack the Greens again. This sadly leads to Adam and Vermithor's death, along with Prince Dearon, Hugh, and Seasmoke. Ulf, of course, drunkenly slept through the battle and makes it out alive. Good things always happens to the worst people it seems.

Rhaenyra ultimately dies

Ah yes, the big finale. I guess we all saw this one coming. I hope this is during the last episode, but as Kings Landing is in a riot by the smaller folk, she takes off with her youngest son – practically a baby – Aegon, to Dragonstone. Unaware it has been taken over by her half-brother Aegon, she gets captured and is fed to Sunfyre. The worst part is Aegon watches as it happens...
