We're not even one month into 2026, and already the fashion calendar is in full swing. Yes, Haute Couture Spring Summer 26 is upon us, which means models, celebrities and fashionable insiders have descended on Paris for a week of wearable art.
Couture week is always hotly-anticipated, but this season has perhaps more emphasis on it than most, with a two major new designers set to make their mark on major fashion Houses. We've already been treated to Jonathan Anderson's first foray as a couturier, at Christian Dior no less, where he reinterpreted historic House codes with an artistic, floral twist. Matthieu Blazy just made his indelible mark at Chanel, with his Haute Couture debut for the house – described as "light and airy" by house ambassador Gracie Abrams to RUSSH after the show. It was a monumental moment for the House: the past several Couture seasons were designed by an in-house team, after Blazy's predecessor, Virginie Viard departed the role in June 2024.
Of course, when the clothes on the runway are this good, attendee fashion must follow suit. That's why Haute Couture week is largely considered a breeding ground for some of the best street style of the year. And already, the Spring Summer 26 season is living up to this reputation. Celebrities like Rihanna and Oscar nominee Teyana Taylor dialled up the glamour at Dior and Schiaparelli respectively. While models (including Australian exports Stella Hanan and Angelina Kendall) have proven how to handle Parisian winter while looking effortlessly chic in uniforms of oversized outerwear, straight leg jeans, sleek sunglasses, and loafers.
