Demna’s first outing for Gucci doesn’t read as a transition so much as a statement of intent. Titled La Famiglia, the collection unfolds as a series of personas rather than a singular aesthetic, each look charged with its own attitude, tension and sense of play. For the pages of our March Sublime issue, that idea of multiplicity takes centre stage, where identity is fluid, refracted, styled reimagined with each frame.
The Gucci woman resists definition. She shifts between moods and silhouettes with ease: though nearly always wrapped in a dramatic coat with gloves and headscarf, she appears composed yet guarded; elsewhere, a sheer dress layered over tights suggests something more undone, intimate, and more steadfastly provocative. Accessories act as anchors throughout, with the Gucci Bamboo 1947 functioning as an extension of character rather than simple adornment.
There is a constant push and pull within the collection. Tailoring is precise, almost severe, before giving way to fabrics that cling and move with softness. Hosiery is elevated, no longer secondary but integral to the look. A dress can feel protective in one moment, then playful in the next. Nothing is fixed; everything exists in motion.
Photographed by Sam Armstrong, models Audrey Lees and Kiara Masella sit somewhere between portrait and performance; each move through each look inhabiting different versions of self.
