Giorgio Armani is a house steeped in history, but that doesn't mean it's a house that's afraid of change. For the spring summer 2027 collection, aptly titled 'Evolution' and under the new design direction of Silvana Armani, the brand's familiar codes were given room to shift and grow.

The collection began with tailoring, one of Armani's most recognisable signatures, but changed the way it sat on the body. Jackets were longer and looser, with elongated proportions that gave them a more relaxed feel. At the same time, sharp shoulders brought some structure back in, without every erring into the territory of feeling too formal.

That sense of ease continued through to the fabrics. Reflective surfaces caught the light as the clothes moved, giving pieces a subtle sheen that took them easily from day into evening, blurring the lines between dress codes. And perhaps most surprisingly, cotton made its debut in the Armani wardrobe this season, bringing a more tactile, everyday quality to a house typically known for its polished finishes.

The transition into evening was similarly fluid, thanks to accessories – loafers, high-heeled sandals and flat neoprene boots, which changed the posture and attitude of the looks. At the same time, small pouches and clutches were held close to the body, keeping the accessories understated while letting the clothes take centre stage.

Despite these advancements, the collection wasn't afraid to dip into the past – most notably with references to the '80s, from strong shoulders and geometric patterns to metallic touches. But rather than simply recreating the decade, these familiar elements were reworked through softer, more relaxed silhouettes, giving them a distinctly contemporary feel. The butterfly appeared throughout the collection, too, woven into the graphic motifs as the ultimate symbol of transformation. It felt particularly fitting here: changing form while remaining recognisably itself, it echoed the collection's central idea of evolution.
