Winter isn't quite over yet, which means we still have every excuse to spend the evening on the couch. Fortunately, Netflix's August lineup is stacked with enough new releases to make staying in feel fairly enticing.

Highlights from the August new to Netflix list

If you've been hanging out for the return of some fan favourites, August delivers. Outer Banks returns for its fifth and final season on 20 August, while My Life With the Walter Boys is also back with season three.

For Australian audiences, arguably the biggest release of the month is My Brilliant Career (led by RUSSH digital cover star Philippa Northeast) . The new adaptation of Miles Franklin's beloved novel arrives on 13 August, reimagining one of the most enduring coming-of-age stories for a new generation.

And as always, we're just as excited about old favourites winding up on the platform. Oscar-winner Conclave arrives on 9 August, while Hamnet lands later in the month. Then there are the comfort watches we'll never say no to revisiting, including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Shrek, The Garfield Movie and the original Final Destination.
