In partnership with Collection by TFE Hotels
Set within Auckland’s vibrant Britomart precinct, The Hotel Britomart is a study in considered design, sustainability and understated luxury. Part of the Collection by TFE Hotels – a curated portfolio of independent hotels across Australia and New Zealand, each defined by thoughtful design, exceptional experiences and a strong sense of place — the hotel is framed by heritage architecture and the rhythm of nearby cafés, boutiques and fresh harbour air. Deeply connected to its surroundings, it’s a place where the pace of Auckland softens.
For stylist Chloe Hill, a recent stay offered the kind of reset that comes from slowing down with intention. Between long mornings at kingi, thoughtful details in the room, and evenings spent tucked away in The Libraries with close friends, her time at The Hotel Britomart became a balance of calm, creativity and connection.
From check-in to check-out, Hill shares the rituals, scents, flavours and moments that shaped her stay.
Did you unpack, or let the suitcase stay half-closed?
My clothes were immediately popped on hangers in the wardrobe and shoes lined up at the foot of the bed, everything else stayed put in my suitcase.
Was there a scent you wanted in the room (and did it find you)?
Abel’s Pink Iris is the scent of my summer days (fresh and slightly citrusy), perfect for this calm and restorative stay. Paired perfectly with the smell of freshly laundered bed linen.
Where in the room, or what part of the resort, did you spend the longest?
You could find me at various tables at The Hotel Britomart’s restaurant, kingi, from sunrise to set. The perfect spot to read my book while eating breakfast, for a quick afternoon refresh with a freshly made smoothie and fries. And of course for a long evening catch up with my dear friend Natasha, while we devoured a four-course set menu.
What became your uniform here?
Summer cottons from antipodean labels like Mahsa, Alemais, Muse and Em on Holiday. Essential for warm and slightly humid strolls around Britomart and surrounds.
Was there an object in the room that felt like it was waiting for you?
The sans [ceuticals] soap bar. I try to be package free whenever possible, so it’s special seeing a hotel prioritise beautiful, quality bars that are gentle on my skin.
What made it into your bag that didn’t arrive with you?
Sally Rooney’s Intermezzo (I’m so behind on reading this, so 2026 is the year) and a sweet pair of bow socks my daughter chose at a local Britomart boutique.
What was the last photo you snapped before leaving?
I had one shot left of black and white film and as I stepped outside one last time I turned around and got a shot of the beautiful linear exterior.
How do you take your coffee when it’s the last one?
It’s a flat white, always.
Was there a dish, drink, or treat you kept going back for while you were there?
A glass of The Landing’s Pinot Gris, so fresh.
Did you have a favourite meal or snack during your stay?
I don’t usually have a sweet tooth, but the 55% chocolate cremeux I had for dessert on my final night is still on my mind. I’ll be back for it again.
What’s a moment from your stay that will stay with you after your check out?
Moving from dinner up to The Libraries for an after-dinner drink. There’s no better space to tuck away with a friend for a quiet conversation to round out the night.
