We’re getting a new romance film from the producer of ‘Tell Me Lies’

If you were hooked on the messy, addictive drama of Tell Me Lies, you’ll want to pay attention. Executive producer Laura Lewis is stepping back into the romance arena with a film adaptation of First Time Caller – this time with something a little softer, a little swoonier (lord knows we're in astate of cinematic yearning right now), and destined for the big screen.

What do we know so far?

It's an upcoming film adaptation of B.K. Borison’s bestselling 2025 novel First Time Caller that's been optioned by A Cup of Happy Productions – the romance-focused banner led by Daryl Steiger, with Lewis producing under her Rebelle Media label.

Amy Huckabay is attached to write the screenplay, while Borison herself serves as executive producer – always a promising sign for fans protective of beloved source material.

What's it about?

Inspired by the spirit of Sleepless in Seattle, the story centres on Aiden Valentine, a Baltimore radio host who’s privately fallen out of love with love – ironic, given that he runs a romance hotline. When a young girl calls in seeking dating advice for her Mum, Lucie Stone, the moment goes viral. Suddenly, Lucie’s love life becomes public fodder, and sparks begin flying behind the scenes between her and the slightly temperamental man in the headphones.

Who is in the cast?

At this point, there are no confirmed actors attached to the project. But hopefully, off the back of Tell Me Lies's success, we'll have an all-star lineup to choose from.

When will it be released?

At this point, there's no official premiere date set as the film is still in early stages of production. We'll keep you updated here as we know more.
