February’s Snow Full Moon in Leo could be the kickstart you need

Our next Full Moon is a dramatic affair that will peak in the sky on Monday 2 February 2026. It turns full at exactly 9:09am AEDT, but the best time to see it will be later that evening as it rises over the horizon.

This Moon is known at the Snow Moon – a name that seems odd to those in the Southern Hemisphere who are current experiencing summer. However, most Full Moons take their names from the seasonal shifts experienced in the North. This Full Moon typically falls during the snowiest part of winter in Europe and North America, hence it's name The Snow Moon.

Falling in the sign of Leo, this Full Moon is set to be impactful, intense and offer a teachable moment for us all. It arrives just as Neptune, a transit that has moved into Aries moving us all into a higher consciousness and the frame of mind to take action. Don't be surprised if you feel the energy around you finally shift. Here's what you need to know.

When is the best time to see the Full Moon

Full Moons always look their biggest and brightest when they are closest to the horizon, owing to an optical illusion. • Canberra 8:21pm AEDT
  • Perth 7:25pm AWDT

What to expect from the Full Moon in Leo

Many of us can feel the energy and social tone around us moving. We have been following the staircase downwards into a dark and divisive place, but now that we've reached the bottom, but with Pluto in Aquarius and now Neptune in Aries we're given the choice about whether we want to climb back up towards daylight. And while it will be a long road to reach the top, this Full Moon imbues us with the kickstart we need to begin the climb.

This an energising moment that sees us wanting to rise up and take control where we're previously taken a passive backseat. Think of this as a confidence-boosting, emotional reenforcement. Coasting through life is no longer comfortable, you want to be in the driver's seat. Here, you'll be more able to withstand the sensory and emotional pressures of the world around you. It will be an excellent time to confidently step into a new project or hobby. Pursuits that require bravery like job hunting, dating or even solo travel feel exciting rather than cumbersome. New beginnings are on the horizon.

However, you will need to tread lightly and watch you don't tip too far into over-confidence. Especially if you already have strong Fire sign placements in your big three. While the energy of this Full allows you to build a thicker skin, you will need to ensure you are still taking on feedback from those that have your best interests at heart. True confidence should always come from within and be accepting of genuine feedback. There is a big divide between criticism and constructive criticism, make sure you understand the difference. If your sense of self and confidence only emerges from external validation, you will need to understand this is not sustainable. Perhaps there is space for you to learn in this moment.

Listening to your heart will be especially important across this Full Moon. You'll be more connected to your own energy here, without self doubt seeping into the cracks. Pause and take a moment to understand what is truly going fulfil you; and you might be surprised to see what you find. Especially when it comes to love and relationships. With Aquarius lighting up Venus, you might find you feel more true connection through an intellectual match rather than what you've previously classed as your type.
