Moncler’s AW26 show and Isla Johnston for LOEWE: here’s what you missed in fashion this week

If you looked away from your phone for, say, a full afternoon, fashion probably moved on without you this week. In fact, it almost always does. But this week delivered a mix of fashion show spectacles, new launches and brand power plays: a rising screen star aligning with a storied Spanish house, a London label touching down in Sydney for an intimate SS26 preview, and a heritage woven bag making yet another convincing case for its icon status, Aspen turning into a snow-lit runway. Basically? A lot happened. Here’s your catch-up.

Sharing its name with the house, the new Veneta bag's origins can be traced back to an early sack bag of the 1970s, designed by Bottega Veneta co-founder Renzo Zengiaro. In 2002, the bag was reintroduced as Veneta, securing its status as a namesake icon, and for Summer 2026, Louise Trotter reimagines Veneta in four new sizes, and in a fresh Intrecciato texture, across 11 colourways (including Blue Venezia, Lava Red, Espresso, and Nocciola).

Gucci introduces the Gucci Borsetto

Gucci's newest bag silhouette – the Gucci Borsetto – was introduced this week by the Italian fashion house. The name plays with language the way the bag plays with form, a word mash-up merging borsa (Italian for bag) and morsetto (Italian for horsebit). The Horsebit detailing recalls Gucci’s equestrian inspirations from its first appearance in collections from the late 1940s, lending vintage charm to the handbag’s relaxed and contemporary silhouette.
