Last night’s Burberry show had the kind of energy that makes London Fashion Week feel alive. As the week came to a close, Burberry invited us to celebrate the optimism that fashion can provide. Before we even got to the show, the invitation itself was already setting the tone. Burberry’s knight on horseback guided the way for an evening of true British fashion.
A few days before, I was sent a gift — a classic navy and green wool check scarf, embroidered thoughtfully with my initials, which I’ve been wearing every day since. It gave a nice preview of the deep blue tones that would take over the runway.
I loved my look, and it felt very me. Statement technical trousers with zips along each leg, a hero top, and an iconic Burberry trench (after all, it does rain every day over here). The only accessory I needed was my Burberry B Clip Messenger Bag (NB: which is actually the perfect size – small enough to be a go-to, but big enough to fit all of the essentials) and scarf, and I was good to go!
En route to the show – in a Black Cab of course! Growing very attached to these trousers …
Arriving at the show, which was held at the iconic Tate Britain, was a little overwhelming. Hundreds of people were standing at the entrance, eager to see who’d be stepping out of each car. The guest list was packed with all of Britain’s favourites.
Very glad at this point I was wearing a coat and scarf – on a bitter February evening in London.
I spotted a few familiar faces in the crowd, including great friends Olympia, Cora, and Annie – it was so special to be at the show with them.
I really always forget how impressive the Tate is. A tapestry backdrop swept across the striking Yves Klein blue carpet flooding the venue. Even the Burberry Knight’s suit of armour had come to life for the evening, sat across from me and watching with rapt attention.
Sinead O'Connor played through the room which I loved (of course, I had to Shazam it). It set the mood beautifully, with a rebellious optimism for the future, and the models brought a real energy to the runway. It was a mix of familiar faces who’ve walked for Burberry for years, alongside some of Britain’s favourite actors and icons.
My personal highlight was Richard E. Grant, who strutted down the runway in a deep moss green wool trench coat and a yellow tartan umbrella. His warm grin, which he couldn’t contain, broke up the serious faces of the other models and added a refreshing touch to the whole show.
As for the collection, it felt focused on rich, heavy fabrics with a lot of movement. Deep tartans, jacquard velvets, and fringes brought the house to life, with us all as its guests. Classic trenches were reworked with unique touches we haven’t really seen before — a fresh spin on Burberry’s signature style.
What an evening! To celebrate Burberry, but also Britain’s creative talent. I won’t be forgetting this show any time soon. After the show, we all dispersed, and I headed straight home - I have a little one after all, and it had just gone 9pm…
