June might be winding down, but the streaming calendar is only just heating up. And if you're anything like me, the recent cold weather has you cancelling plans in favour of a night in front of the television. Well, lucky for us, this month brings plenty of streaming newness to sink our teeth into. There's the return of The Bear, with season four hurtling back onto our screens later this month. Jesse Armstrong’s Mountainhead has pulled us into a bleakly funny tech-bro bunker (Succession fans, you're home), while Echo Valley dropped Sydney Sweeney into thriller territory alongside Julianne Moore. Over on Apple TV+, Stick is filling the Ted Lasso-shaped hole in our heart, while The Buccaneers returns with more corset-clad drama and scandalous affairs.
Overwhelmed by your choices? here's everything you should be streaming this month.
1. The Bear season four
Yep, Carmy’s back in the kitchen. Season four of The Bear will dive even deeper into the pressure cooker that is our favourite television show, with new menus and plenty of tension. Expect more brilliant chaos when the latest instalment finally lands on June 26.
Where to stream: Disney+
2. Mountainhead
What happens when four tech billionaires hide out in a luxury mountain compound as the world falls apart from an AI-related crisis? Jesse Armstrong (the brains behind Succession) has the answers. Mountainhead brings with it Armstrong's always-sharp wit, along with an all-star cast including Steve Carell, Ramy Youssef, Corey Michale Smith, and Jason Schwartzman.
Where to stream: HBO Max
3. Echo Valley
Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney play mother and daughter in this film, but be warned, it's not exactly a heartwarming story. Set on a horse farm in rural Pennsylvania, Moore plays Kate, a mother whose world is turned upside down when her daughter, Sweeney, arrives home one night covered in blood. What unravels next is a mystery shrouded in guilt, violence, and desperation.
Where to stream: AppleTV+
4. Stick
It's been a while since Owen Wilson has graced our screens, and we're so glad to have him back. In Stick, he plays Pryce Cahill, a former golf star whose glory days are long behind him. But when he crosses paths with Santi, a teenage prodigy, Pryce steps into the unexpected role of mentor. What unfolds is a moving story of unlikely friendship and personal redemption. Sort of like Ted Lasso, if it was set on a gold course.
Where to stream: AppleTV+
5. America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders
Back for season two, this docuseries dives behind the sleek uniforms to expose the training, competition, heartbreak, and ambition of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. This season, there's more of an edge to the story, as the cheerleaders fight for better pay, and drama threatens to end the tenure of one of the longest-serving teammates.
Where to stream: Netflix
6. We Were Liars
Adaptated from E. Lockhart's novel by the same name, this series tells the story of four teens (dubbed "the liars") whose summer spent on a private island is marred by a web of lies and a a devastating accident. If that's not enough to draw you in, it also stars rising Australian actor Joseph Zada, who is weeks away from beginning filming his lead role as Haymitch in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Where to stream: Prime Video
7. The Buccaneers
Missing Bridgerton? This one's for you. Season two of the Buccaneers brings the gilded glamour of 1870s London to the fore, with all the drama we came to love in season one. Even better, Leighton Meester is joining the cast this time around, so we know it's going to be good.
Where to stream: Apple TV+
8. Squid Game season three
For those still recovering from the gore of season two, we have news for you: the third and final season of Squid Game is nearly here. Landing on June 27, the last instalment is set to (finally) bring the battle between Gi-Hun and the Front Man to a head. Consider us seated.
